I mean the plot and the connection between the characters are cool and kinda unique the comedy is so funny and the action is fun to watch and last but not least the characters are so good every character have it's own personality and some character get nice development and the production is not great but if you made it through the cgi bear it gets better and the production overall is acceptable overall i think golden kamuy is so good and enjoyable to watch and it's at least an 8/10 anime

Cgi bear.

Some people are just that shallow and dropped the series solely cause of that.

Literally look at the previous thread on the matter.

I think it's most related about the background of the story. To properly understand the issues in the plot you must know about the Meiji Restoration, the Russo-Japanese War, the status of the Ainu People and other antics unrelated to overseas audiences.

I fell in love with this anime so hard, I wrote a final paper about the build-up to the Russo-Japanese war, hahaha. Started watching it a few months ago and wanted to understand the plot and the characters better.

I think that's the most exciting about a hobbie! Because of that you get caught and interested in know more about what's behind it.

Well the answer is pretty simple, historical anime are not that popular. I guess anime fans are not really that interested in those type of stories.

It isn't really, 7.8 is a pretty good score, other anime that are really overrated, like Kimetsu no Yaiba, Promare, Kimi no Na wa, No Game No Life, Shigatsu wa Kimi no Uso, Promised Neverland, Gurren Lagann, Haikyuu, Angel Beats, Dr.Stone, Koe no Katachi, Ansatsu Kyoushitsu and a lot others.
Also most people that are on here are teenagers, most of them only follow hype and/or just watch shonen and more often than not, give really high scores for stuff that is below average.

Nice deflecting, but yeah the bears and wolf in ep.1 are pretty bad.

I agree that they're not popular but if it was super great, it would have a higher score, just see stuff like Kingdom, even with a CG first season, plus Vinland Saga, Shouwa Genroku Rakugoo Shinjuu and all of the Wusha stories that the fujoshis love so much.
