A good episode. Nice flashbacks about Miya twins.
Felt really bad for Kinoshita.

Still Hinata doesn't get much screentime.

+1
unfortunately :( we really missed him.

The back stories and side tracking on characters I don't care about is getting annoying. Play the game already! It's such a slug fest. I want some action already.

Don't agree at all with what many are saying here. Love that it's focusing more on fleshing out the characters than in the game itself. Amazing episode, the dynamic between the Miya Twins is awesome.

we got to see nishinoya and the miya twins as kids lol :') i always forget anime characters dye their hair so it was weird to see the miya twins with brown hair lol.

i liked seeing the miya twins' bg story too. overall a decent ep but it honestly felt slow & lacking action. i wish there was more of a balance of action vs character development/bg stories. is it just me that felt the animation was slightly off?

That last scene gave me goosebumps. Even the great Kageyama was intimidated by Atsumu. Can't wait for the next episode!

Loved the episode. The second half of this season though, something is missing. I don't feel scared like in the other matches. I feel as if this match was decided before it started by how the atmosphere was set up.

Honestly, I don't mind the slower pace and character/story development, so far. Understanding the characters and having a view from the past was quite enjoyable imo.

I can't wait for the upcoming episodes, seems like everything will be wrapped up soon enough. Hope to see some Hinata monster moments soon.

Agree with some replies here. Fleshing out characters is important and all, but when there're extensive backstories every other episode, it felt like they took creative writing class a little too literally.

Flashbacks of the Miya twins were eh but I appreciate young Nishi too

Also when did Kageyama and Hinata become side characters? I'm tired of waiting for their moment hopefully they show up next episode.

I really liked the part of Nishinoya, however I can't really feel all that "hero" moment Kinoshita had, maybe because it was so bland?

Also we have 3 topics in this episode:

①The way Tsukishima blocks.
②The fear of Nishinoya towards Atsumu's serve.
③And (Idk why) the past of the twins.

The transition towards every topic was so messy, it felt like nothing of that was important at all and had nothing to do with the match, it didn't connect to anything.

Don't get me wrong, I love Haikyuu, I just want this match to end soon.

Genuine Question for you guys 2 sets have already happened Has there been any moment you felt "hype" or "tension" in this match I don't even remember half the stuff that happened in this match

Really miss moments like these & Hinata lol

Exactly. This might not be as intense as Aoba Johsai's match or Shiratorizawa's match but it sure is more emotional since we get to know the characters better. Miya twins, Tanaka, Kinoshita, Noya, Kita and Aran (especially Kita. Sure i don't care about him before his flashback, but because of that flashback, i now love him and care about him, i am even rooting for Inarizaki to some extent).

But i still root for Karasuno a smidge more than i do for Inarizaki.

didn't really care for the miya twins before this, and didn't even remotely think much of them, but this episode completely won me over, one of the better episodes this season, they did cram a loooooot of back stories into this one episode with noya's, kinoshita's, the twins, but i really liked how they did it with the twins from aran's perspective, that was really nice. the overarching theme of "hero" with noya's grandpa influence of him, kinoshita looking up to the stronger members who had their moments, and the twins' dynamics was really well-done.

great development tho i wished there was more kita lol

Good episode, but unfortunately this match feel so unimportant compared to Aoba Josai and Shiratorizawa matches. Don’t get me wrong, I like to learn more about the characters in both team, but it was out of places and kill the tension of this match.

Despite feeling really slow, this episode is actually rushed and haven’t enough focus on each of the characters. As a result, some very important character moments didn’t connect with me at all. I think the better decision will be make Nishinoya and the Twin brothers stuff in two separate episodes.

My favorite episodes in this season so far is the 7th one and Nekoma match, which have interesting backstories and good balance between the flashbacks and the actual match.

I really miss the directing style the first 3 seasons when all big moments were handled so well, because they felt “big”, dynamic and emotional.

I think the reason for Haikyuu being so good it's that we can't hate the villains. Because they are so weel build as characters, all of them have unique skills, unique story, they are more like Karasuno's rivals. They are not mean, they're competitive.

So i caught myself cheering for the Sumu twins this episode. I love this show.

Nice episode. Feels like both volleyball teams can only score points if they have a flashback 2 minutes beforehand lol

and poor Hinata and co! Hinata, Kageyama and hair-back spiker had what, 3 lines combined this episode xD? Karasuno becoming more irrelevant with each episode lol

The episode lives up to the reputation of Hailyuu series and was entertaining all along. The origin story of the twins was great to see. The episode was entertaining overall and loved every moment of it.
But I would like to see some see the end of this match already. Will Karasuno win or loose? This question is keeping me awake at night.
I have to say though, this series is as entertaining as it was in the first season. Looking forward for the rest of the episodes....

I appreciated this little moment with Nishinoya talking a bit about his past ^^

The twins like to challenge each other, don't they? XD Atsumu's the troublemaker and you better run if you don't play voleyball seriously >>; That was a harsh way to talk with your teammates, especially your twin. Bro, chill! At least Osamu cares about his twin in the end which isn't bad :)

Great episode! It was amazing the way Tsumu saved the ball at last second. Even our Karasuno coach Ukai give an applause :O Now that was something else!

They did the twins backstory this time, Nishinoya on this episode was really good he's getting even better after that loss.

It seems like that Karasuno is gonna win here, just a hunch.

I'm sorry to say that but the amount of flashbacks every episode absolutely killed this match. The pacing of the match itself is ridiculously slow because we barely see any action each episode. It's like every single thing needs first to be explained by a long flashback before we see it. It's honestly poor storytelling.

This match could have been done in 6 episodes or so.

2 flashbacks of 2 different people in one episode. I'm sure Kageyama can pull off a set like that too but he's gonna need a flashback of his own as well lol

Damn i think match against Miya twins would be gonna dope. But hell it's very boring match. I think the reason was because too many flashback and the cour part (ofc animation too).

Best match in Haikyuu was when Karasuno vs Oikawa's team

The backstory of the Miya twins was really interesting and heartwarming in a way. They support each other in their own tough way, they play best when they are together and their rivalry fuels their motivation.

I felt so fucking bad for Kinoshita, I really wanted him to land that serve T_T He really helped when he advised Nishinoya how to receive Atsumu's serve though, so at least that made him happy.

And DAMN, Atsumu's set from such a low point was epic! His skill is seriously praise-worthy.

Well, at least Kinoshita had some use. I honestly feel bad for all of those who always have to just sit back and have almost no time to shine. Like you are part of the team but get called in maybe once an entire match :/ Yamaguchi at least had more moments, but the other 2-3 serve almost no purpose.

Great moments in this episode, Nishinoya with that amazing save and Kinoshita with the help! And a nice backstory to the twins which I really wanted to see so they can be more likable and it definitely made me laugh.

However, I stand by my point that Oikawa is the best setter and for sure better than Atsumu at understanding their spiker. I will never forget that toss from the ending of season 2. Whyyy can't we see more from Oikawa, where is he!
Come on man, where is that Noragami season 3 masterpiece. We want it, Bones!

i don't know if it's the pace being off, or the fact that there's very few fluid animation moments. this season animation decision really making this season probably the worst.

why i'm feeling that nashinoya had kind of restart?
i'm not underestimate irizawa strength, but shiratorizawa just felt much more challenge than them, and there noya did hell of a job. why suddenly he's afraid of the serves?
its feels more as character plot device, rather than creativity writing . . .

the whole miya kyoudai story had nice vibes. but as a whole it leading toward kageyama wanting to compete atsumu abilities. i won't be surprised if hinata going to shine in this act as well.
