So, Toradora is a manga based on the famous light novel publishied from 2006 to 2009.
While the anime started and ended during 2011, the manga adaptation (wich actually started during 2011 too) is still ongoing, after 9 years.
It has around 9 volumes for now, and we don't know when it is going to end (even if we are around the climax of the original work), but what is bothering me is the time they are taking to make this.
At first I tought it was my country problem, like "Hey, maybe in Japan it already ended and here it is not going well", but then I discovered there are still no news about new chapters or so, and that's strange for such a famous work.
I mean, I don't get HOW it is taking so long. I know making manga takes time, but every Toradora volumes has few chapters, usually shorts too, and there are lots of less famous authors who draw more in a much shorter time!
Maybe there was a problem during the production? Maybe the authors isn't interessed anymore in the making of the manga adaptation?

I mean, that's just strange. This manga literally started publishing when I was in my last year of elementary school, and now that I am in high school I don't even know if it is going to end.
Not that this is important, since there's the anime and the light novel, but I wanted to ask if anyone knows something about this strange situation.

Having looked up the Wiki page, the manga is released in a monthly magazine. That's 12 chapters a year, and assuming there's been no hiatuses, that would ,mean there should be around 81 chapters.

I haven't read Toradora but depending on how dense the original LN's were, the manga might take time to fully flesh out the story (depending on how faithful the manga is). Also, seeing as how this is just an adaptation of a popular series, it's not high on the author's priority, especially since the anime seems to be so popular and is probably a way better introduction into the franchise than a manga adaptation.

I see, so that's why. A chapter each month. The strange thing is that the manga is being relased once every TWO year, and each volume has around 10 chapter each.

And yes, the anime is probably the best way since it is a good adaptation, it is total fanservice-free and... it ended.
I really can see why they are forcing the author to produce the manga since Toradora popularity, as much as it is still great, surely decreased during the years (since it's a 2006 work).

Manga adaptation of light novels are all trash and a waste of time, its literally the exact same story except everything is worse.

Just not worth wasting time reading it when you can read the LN which gives you a much better experience.

Based on my personal experience I just know that you can't properly adapt a LN in manga format.

Light novels are text heavy and contain a lot more dialogue and narrative then manga, when putting that into manga format a lot of stuff has to be cut or shortened so it can fit on the limited space manga panels have as well as the text boxes.
I also know that in 95% of cases, the art of the LN is better than the manga art.
And just by comparing the two covers I can see the difference on Toradora, as well as their scores.

I still have yet to see a manga adaptation that's better than it's original LN.

I have both the light novels and the manga of 四つ子ぐらし. For this particular series, the light novel illustrator and manga author are the same person, so the art quality is the exact same. I do agree though that there's text constraints in the manga version, and they need to leave out a few things. In practice, the 1st manga volume only covers up to portion of chapter 6 in the 1st volume of the light novel (out of 16 chapters). That means you'd need about 2.5 manga volumes to cover the same content in 1 light novel volume.

edit: there are 13 light novel volumes for Toradora. if we assume 2.5 manga volumes cover the same content in 1 light novel volume, you would need about 32 to 33 manga volumes. there are only 10 manga volumes released so far, which suggests the Toradora manga will continue for a very, very long time (or until hiatus)

You can buy lossless digital music from your favorite Japanese artists on https://ototoy.jp/.
The songs are all DRM-free and you can re-download your purchased albums as you wish.
Show your support to your favorite artist if you can!
ps. if you are looking for Japanese albums, you have to search it in Japanese (not romaji). Just copy and paste the name.

Im not sure but Wasnt Volume 9 in the christmas arc already? So i dont think we are gonna get 32 volumes unless they add new plots, which i am completely fine if they did.

Sadly, nope. But the volume (which I still have to read) ends around the time Taiga and Ryuji starts wondering about their future and decide to take a part-time job. Iirc it should be something like episode 22-23 in the anime, so I think they'll end this with volume 11.

not really sad tho, i prefer it to be even longer than the novel. I just hope we get more story and even a wedding scene. Thanks for the info.
