----------------------------------------
I have praised the originality of the series many times and I will continue to do so. The style of this arc is awesome, whereas to some degree it reminds me of the Aiga arc, although a much bigger version of that, the flow of everything, and the presentation reminds me of something like a television action/drama! I hope my point comes across because I do acknowledge I am not describing it well as this is outside of my forte. Regardless it’s a cutthroat, fast paced, dramatic and cinematic experience. And I think that's super cool. To repeat what I have said in the past, even if the series does not actually become something special to me, even if it does not change my life like some other Fukumoto series have definitely done, I think I'll still greatly appreciate GtK for its freedom of ideas.

Further, like the Aiga arc, I'd like to draw another comparison to the Fukumoto-written Kokuhaku/Confession! There's something incredibly fun about stories like these, where life and death are in the mix, there is a real sense of grotesque horror, but the mechanics of the conflict are reminiscent of something like a shounen battle! That is what Confession did better than anything else I have ever read, and I'm feeling it here too.

For instance, in the gritty realism of having 30 minutes go by while the characters are in hiding and fearing for their lives, there's a sense of claustrophobia and panic, if somebody loses here, their life will be over, and their life will be over in an instant. All that needs to be done is one decisive move. Not so much battle shounen just yet, but by giving such a specific perimeter, yakuza will dispose of the bodies but won't help, the brothers can't turn on the lights and must use flashlights, and Morita must somehow flee and think of a strategy to survive, going so far to decipher the telepathic power that his foes are exhibiting by knowing exactly where he is hiding, and now with the knowledge of the tape tactic and an ability to use it against them, yeah!

It's exactly that mix I'm talking about, fun and exciting but with a gritty, real, and uncomfortable atmosphere that’s very unique. Seriously, as Morita was trying to decipher how his opponents could read his moves, it reminded me of trying to figure out a stand user in Jojo! That said, I suppose you could argue almost all of Fukumoto can be read like this to some degree, gambling and playing games with incredibly concise and specific parameters, recognizing and adapting to the opponent's tricks and tactics, however I do feel there's something far more similar about physical fights like this where the game involves taking down the opponent with your own hands. It’s a huge difference in the feeling it evokes to me at least.

Anyways, Saori Tanaka has been shot and abandoned but not finished off and if she lives, Morita can have another woman join his harem of female supporting characters who have a crush on him but don’t do all that much! I mean who doesn’t have a crush on Morita!!
