Seems this is the continuation of the arc and there's plenty of inner psychological moments about human feelings again.

They did manage to buildup this episode to a decent fight though with high stakes.

Dan stole the limelight from odasaku and angou. They were struggling quite abit before he arrived. Now the group finally came together!
Things are heating up.
Can't wait for the next ep.

The continuation of Dazai's No Longer Human, only tainted in pure fashion.

Going through Dazai's life of being a clown to feel being human, but being a facade of his true self, reality hits him back as soon as it does, tainting the receptacles of his heart.

And also with the half-human, half-Tainted Ryuunosuke, to save Dazai using his own means whilst the other novelists (Oda, Sango, Dan) entering through the usual means to stop his advances.

But more characters show up...to dismantle the fray. How will Dazai take this lying down?

I accepted it to be really dark, because the book is dark. And as mentioned, he dies shortly after, so he wasn't in his best position of life (or did I just read it somewhere...?). Is he autistic with depression? It is hard to understand where are his emotions are coming from. I understand the book has the same conflict, but it wasn't conveyed well enough. And though it is true they actually mentioned this about the "real" Dazai (the character in anime), again, they never talked as to why. This character was nothing but a comic relief and in just an episode ago, it continued to be the oh so nice character without any depth... Also, both Ango and Oda tells him that's not real him... didn't you say an episode earlier the opposite? Now, because he lost it, he's boring? Like, really? That boring person, gentlemen, committed suicide.

Never read the original, but I guess that's the level you can accept of 13+ a show trying to convey a story of 18+.

Oh please do! It's probably my favourite piece of literature. The story of Oba is absolutely tragic, but like Dan says, "the way you try to be human until the very end was beautiful". Dazai has a way with words that has always drawn me in, they feels both vulnerable and sincere.

I wanna say they were a little heavy handed with the whole "I'm a murderous psychopath, its all an act." and it ended up being too cliche and empty, butt.... I just bought the book and got my college's Japanese literature (mostly manga) club to start reading it soooo.... can't say I didn't totally fall for it lol. Perhaps it just panders too much to my tastes, but i've really enjoyed the show so far.

Dan really had his shining moment as the hero there. Quite the cliffhanger, so if the real Akutagawa just appeared with some other authors...who is the half-Taint guy that was there the whole time?
