| I didn't know about the same town thing, but that both anime use a version of a person at a different time as a spirit to personify all the characters' regrets, and that every protagonist needed to get over what this spirit meant to them in order to move on makes them very thematically similar. In both anime, all of the main protagonists are sort of stuck in an emotional limbo until they could "exorcise" those feelings, and the characters find each other again in the process. They're practically the same movies. It's no surprised that they were made by the same creative team. |
