Do you prefer the new animation over the previous one?

While the animation of this season is good, it does not feel like Major. This kind of animation suits slice of life/drama/romance/shoujo animes more. I think it is better if they kept the original designs just like the previous season.

Seriously, this kind of style is not unique at all. If you show me any random character, I would think this is Kimi no Na Wa or any other new anime. It really disappointed me.

Personally I absolutely love it. It looks fantastic with the actual animation for the pitches, the way the characters are drawn and the little bits of the plays we saw from early on, everything looks really well done surprisingly with a lot of refinement.

And I personally believe it does also feel like the other Major shows with how the character designs were drawn for everyone. Sure it's a change that may require some people to getting used to but I feel like it was for the better as it manages to retain charm while just generally looking better. Diamond no Ace Act II had some pretty mediocre animation and visuals and from pictures of Tamayomi, it looks horrendous. So seeing such simple but well-done animation by OLM for Major 2nd season 2 is only a delight for me, not something holding it a little back.

Hell, after episode 4 where we saw a lot of the original Major characters, I thought they still looked very similar to the original show but just a lot better drawn, especially Goro and Toshiya.

Looks pretty good, ngl.

If only the story and character quality was as good, though.

This’d be the kind of quality that Boruto wished it had xD

I don’t say it is not good. I actually like it but not for major. At least they could have adapted it for the first part of Major 2nd.

Still I don’t mind changing the style as long as it doesn’t become worse.

That’s too much for Boruto XD. We will never get good animation from Toei animation and Pierrot studio. I am glad that Major is not a main stream shounen anime.

I think the characters and the story are still as good as Major (the first 6 seasons)

The director for Major 2nd season 2 is same as the first season but the character designer for Major 2nd s2 is different from the previous one. So the actual designs are done by a different person.

I meant the story and character quality being not close to as good as the new animation quality. I’m in the minority group for this perspective, though, I guess. I don’t think there’s a whole lot of difference in terms of improvement in script and development, but then again, I need to do some serious catchup to see for myself.

I didn’t know that. I hope they don’t change the designer again :/

Everyone seems to praise the new animations, but to me it feels a bit weird. I don't know how to describe it, but it feels like the characters do not fit well with the backgrounds. It's too noticeable that the backgrounds and the characters themselves are drawn using different techniques. It doesn't look like a single whole, but like the characters were just placed over some photos and are out of place, which gives an unnatural impression

The backgrounds are drawn by different people. So if the character designs change without changing backgrounds then it might look weird
