I see this show is back to its roots again with the murder mystery cases. Still, a case involving a puppet?

That's not something you hear everyday. Even for this series, I find it a bit unusual as a case.

question. are these being aired in proper order? It seems kinda random.

Going back to the roots with another murder mystery case. And this time, it's isn't Ishigami nor Kyousuke who starts the case as usual, but Yoshii.

A puppet/doll committed a murder? That's quite hard to believe at hindsight, but no case's too hard for poet Ishikawa.

Nevertheless, a doll exhibit in the Meiji era, that's quite surreal for people to believe in anything, whether is it truth or lies.

Where there seems to be no way to bring the case any futher, his "guesswork" tricks always work in the background.

As always in the end, it's the collective effort of the detectives to spell out the shortcomings of each of their downward spirits.

Such a weird case as usual, but unlike past cases, this episode's pretty linear though (and yet, one of the more easily predictable ones). Well, this is enjoyment I can barely hold my breath though.

The original novel is 20+ years old, and I don't ever believe there were translations for it. Regardless, it's like Sherlock Holmes and the many cases, so yes the order is random, even by guesswork.

I am now officially convinced that series' starring Sakurai Takahiro as an adult MC are doomed to have failing romances (first Richard-san and now this) lmao.

so Kiku was a yandere all along. Well that's one way to get rid of your reverse-harem. Still kinda annoyed how quickly Ishikawa was forgiven (which seems to be a reoccurring thing in this show) but oh well, at least the case was pretty nice

caught up on this show. Not sure quite how I feel about it yet. I agree with what others have said that Ishikawa is an incredibly unlikable mc.

This was one of the better episodes, but that's mostly because Kyousuke wasn't really in the ep for Ishikawa to be a shitty friend towards him. lol. looking at the PV for ep.7, I guess Kyousuke will forgive Ishikawa and things will return to normal. I mean, at the end of ep.5 Kyousuke said he loved Ishikawa? I saw a few folks on twitter point out that the Seiyuu used the romantic wordage of love. Wonder if that'll go anywhere. Him being romantically in love with Ishikawa seems like the only plausible reason why he'd wanna stick around Ishikawa, who has shown to be a pretty shitty friend so far.

the mystery case was interesting. Kiku had to have some serious mental issues. I mean, being the murderer, yet hiring a detective to solve the case which would reveal she was the murderer? Yet she was confident she'd be able to kill the two detectives. It was certainly an interesting way to end this mini arc of all those men hopelessly fawning over her I guess?

Ishikawa is an unlikable MC, though he's growing on me, and the stories are so-so, but the character design and the backgrounds are beautiful.

Well this case was kinda meh cause it was pretty obvious that Kiku was the killer.

We are past the halfway mark and this was pretty average so far, hope this gets better in the second half.

"The mountains have died.
The sea, too, dies, and there is no sound.
When I was young, all the world was love."

"In misery...
even the phrase "it's you"
unable to be whispered
the world grieves
at the end of love."

The poems are beautiful.

It's a part of realism, but it's still annoy me, that this is a self-defence case, but a century ago when woman had no rights it's murder.

Well yes, but remember that she was trying to kill Ishikawa and Hagiwara which wasn't self-defence.

If she and her lover tell truth from the start maybe there would be no problem.

True, she tried to kill them to cover the fact she killed the actor in self-defense. I got annoyed by her at that point. She should've just asked them to help her but no.

Didn't expect her to be the murder, another love murder case solved, kinda wish they varied the cases a bit. Don't know about that periods laws but couldn't Kiku plead self-defence or even why she was there with Otojirou in the first place.
Well Kindaichi didn't cut his ties after all... bit bad since Ishikawa hasn't really changed at all (doing the case only for money)

I'm not confident that they wouldn't have found the murder to be self-defense. Remember, this is late-Meiji or Taisho era Japan, not feudal Japan. At any rate, that definitely broke my immersion.
Every day you can read a book or watch some anime is a good day!
