Ah, the big final battle of the season. This felt like Ash's personal battle to save Matoi than just winning. And of course, he's not alone either. He's got all his allies and friends with him in this final episode.

Kind of an emotional series finale actually. I mean, if you consider what everything Ash has been through this season....yup.

Reviewing the purpose.

Replica of those dead or not part of the enemy team? Then after defeating, they start their sending.

Quiet Hanazawa-san's character is admitting about her real name to HiroC's character. There's also two-personalities Hanazawa-san's character, too, as well as others.

Main guy trying to stop that girl from being evil. She tries to shut that evil existing in her body.

Helmet guy came to save main guy and purify her.

Helmet guy gone w. mother ship without helmet, but the evil being is not completely gone.

That "brother" existence say that helmet guy just turned the time back, and they can still redo the battle so that they are prepared.

Well a happy ending tho i would have liked to see more.
Good thing the game is out tho i still have to wait a while before it's availible on PC.

Matoi and Ash can now move on till the next thing that might happen to them in the future.
And all the characters showed up in the end.

"Hello" the final ending song is basically Matoi feeling toward Ash or us "Player"
how happy she is to meet us... and thank you for everything Ash/Player did for her.

Another part regards the ending is Xion real goal.
What Xion desire the most isn't the total anihilation of Falzspawn but
her real goal is actually... the future where Matoi live all along and both alternate Ash the [Persona] and Xion endup took the roles of Profound Darkness host by the end of this episode.

This however mean Profound Darkness isn't actually defeate.. it just got throw back to the past by Persona and waiting for change to resurface once again.

At the moment, the story available in the NA version of the game only goes up to the end of this anime (while the JP version is 3 expansions ahead).
I dunno when the next parts of the story will be released in the NA version, but I guess they'll be released over time through the next few months.

Though, when the PC version comes out, it's still worth playing through the parts the anime covered, since there's alot of stuff the anime skipped, and some of the skipped parts are important for the newest arc in the JP version.

One thing to note, there's a 2 years time skip until the next part of the story, but there's a side story that takes place during that time skip, the other PSO2 anime from a few years ago (Phantasy Star Online 2 The Animation). Ash doesn't appear in it at all, but Matoi has a brief cameo in the later parts.
At first that older anime seems unrelated to Episode Oracle, but it's both kinda related to the next part of the story and also is related to something that was shown during Episode Oracle.

Spoiler about how the older anime is related to Episode Oracle:

While it's good that they don't put Ash and Matoi in romantic relationship, I'm dissatisfied with how many key characters are dead, like Gettemhult.

So from looks of it. It's that 'Oh we saved her, but we didn't exactly win.' type of deals, and that the PD will one day rise again, and Ash has to do this all over again. But from looks of things, they'll be looking at a way to do this better so they can destroy PD for good.

Been a fun series. I miss Pso2 from playing it way back. Glad I watched it.

So, in the end it was that Dark Falz Persona that took care of that Profound Darkness.

I'm glad Matoi is safe and she's with Ash. Thou I would have liked to see more romantic development between them.

Really enjoyed this anime every week. This was nothing special but still I really liked it and looked forward to each episode every week. Gonna miss this.

In the source material (the game), Ash is represented by the player character, which can be either gender, so at best there's only hints about the player character and Matoi caring for each other.

Though, there is one scene (which takes place in a planet that the anime skipped) where one character remarks that Matoi and the player are often together and asks if they're lovers, what is said in that scene depends on the player character's gender:

Matoi's ability to bring the elites back from the netherworld shows well her strength. Klariskrays determination as well as the newly formed bonds with Sarah sure served to make their team a potent bastion in the fight against the elites. Still it was indeed heartwarming to see both their friends and their fellow Arks fight so hard to give Ash the chance to save Matoi. The fight to save Matoi though sure featured quite the array of surprises though. Still in the end im glad that they were able to save Matoi and the universe. Overall an excellent finale that managed to end the series reasonably well. Though the fact that Persona's sacrifice merely rewound time rather than ending the threat once and for all was kinda unexpected. Overall as a series 6/10 i think is fine as while it got better from the latter half the mid part of the series was kinda slow.

So they cut the time loop part with Ash failing the first time and turning into Persona from the grief, the fight against Viel Hunar (complete with one of the best boss themes in the game), Persona turning into Profound Darkness to save Matoi etc.

Overall this has been a poor adaptation, but purely on the basis of them using the ending song Hello I'll give it a passing grade. It's just a shame they cut so much considering Episode 1,2 and 3 were removed from PSO2 and only the recap quests remain, so nobody will be able to see the full story.

I liked this series, more than the first one, the time loop seems to put the entire plot into a pointless struggle but it's interesting.
Hope for a 3rd season.

Nice finale, had mix of boring episodes vs good story arcs, decent buildup to an end for a game adaptation. The time travel parts, Matoi past, Xiao/Xion, Quna and how arcs relate to some fun characters were pretty nice.
Lol Ash achieves handholding and Persona ends in eternal timeloop.

Eh~~ one of those endings where it ends out of the blue. I don't like these sudden endings.

The council of 6, they are dead? What happened?

It said "The council of 6 has been wiped out. ARKS unit elimited". That does not mean they were killed by that giant flower beam? But then, they are in a flower field? Is that paradise? xD

Anyway, as an anime watcher only, I think this anime is enjoyable in general and I think it's significantly underrated (current mean score here on MAL: 6.54 )

This series was so bleh. I liked the setting but man the story was weak and it's not like the characters did justice either. I guess I had more exceptions for a 25 episode anime but forgot that this is based on an MMORPG game and not a manga or light novel. And like many anime based on games this was also produced for a promotional purpose rather than entertainment.

As for the characters they were mostly dull and forgetful. The protagonist is pretty much a robot with no real development. And Matoi's cutesy voiced felt irritating after a while. Afin was okay.

The actions sequences or fight scenes were kind of bad. And what was the point of using 3d animations if you are not going to fully utilize it?

Guess the ending made some sense but felt rushed.

It kinda late to explain but... No one died in the battle against [Profound Darkness].

When Persona absorbed Profound Darkness essense from Matoi and Ash
he become partial awakened [Profound Darkness] with limitless power
and during that time..

[Persona] activate his time traveling ability, revert everything back to before Profound Darkness destroyed a part of Naverius and then teleport back to the time period where these event still not happening...

So the Ending is
[Persona] and the last remaining flagment of Xion which is originally in the Ivory staff Chalissa is still stuck in eternal loop of going back to the past and then once [Profound Darkness] manage to fully take control on the body he will return to the present timeline.
which will be the future plot where ARKS need to made a big preparation for another battle.. and with Xiao guidance ARKS will need to search for a ways to end [Profound Darkness] and free every soul that bring part of Profound Darkness.

ps. Those flower is just native plant in Naverius... yeb a big flower field just grow out of the place where [Profound Darkness] used to tear the planet apart
and It Matoi favourite so it kinda... [Persona] final gift in some sense

That was an epic and emotional. The sight of everyone gathering together and uniting for one purposes was really something to see. It felt epic and just downright awesome.

Seeing the Council of Six in action is really breathtaking. Just goes to show how much power there is between the Council of Six. I really liked Klariskrays III in this episode. I kept waiting for her parts!

Another epic moment was when Quna suddenly appeared as the barrier began to break and united the strength of the Council of Six as the 0th of the Council of Six. Really love Quna!

For the main battle itself, I was at the edge of my seat and felt goosebumps all over! Matoi's warm and kind voice set against the intense and cruel battle was amazing. And the entire confrontation with Ash just made me emotional.

It seemed like he was on the verge of succeeding, when Matoi herself thought that it was impossible to save her and that if she had to die, she wanted it to be in the hands of Ash. But Ash refused, and Matoi tried to kill herself... only to have Ash leap in front of the blast and let it take him instead. That terrified scream from Matoi was really sad to hear...

I was surprised when the ship crew informed Xiao that the Council of Six had been WIPED OUT? Just like that. Really goes to show how powerful [Profound Darkness] is.

And then [Persona] finally took a stand to end the eternal cycle, to end the infinite times Ash has killed Matoi to save her. For the first time, Ash - or rather his future self [Persona] saves Matoi. He gets thrown back in time to before Matoi became [Profound Darkness], and repeat a new cycle: not of killing Matoi, but of saving Matoi and throwing [Profound Darkness] into the past again and again and again until he can't anymore. At least that was how I understood it, if I didn't get it wrong.

I'm glad that Matoi was saved and she could reunite with everyone again. I'm dying to see any sort of continuation to this. I hope we get to see Ash and Matoi together someday! This really makes me want to pick up the game just for the story. Truly amazing.

Didn't think I'd like this series so much. I can't decide on an 8 or a 9, but it is definitely one of the anime that I thoroughly enjoyed watching.

Playing the game is good option as you will get the missing story that is totally cut from Episode Oracle

PSO2 Episode oracle consist of 3 Game Episode... BUT following part is bring cut
Planet Amduscia and Dragonkin race ( the same race as Hadred )
Planet Lilipa mystery and final battle
Planet Hurokotan's goddess and the war between two oni race.

or if you want the side story after this ending then I suggest you to watch
PSO2 the Animation. The genre is shift to highschool boy on planet Earth but it is indeed the conitnuation of Episode Oracle timeline wise or rather a sidestory and prequel to Episode 4 "Earth".

In game your character play "Ash" role but he/she got more laid back personality.

Current Japanese version is almost at the end of Episode 6 and the hint of
final confrontation against [Profound Darkness] while NA is almost reach the raid battle where you fight [Profound Darkness] over Navarius space.. the same thing that wiped out Council of Sixth and Dark Falz [Gemini] true form.

So this does take place in our universe? With Earth being here?

Also, I heard that the NA version of the game is more rushed and not as good as the Japanese version? Problem is my Japanese is definitely not that good yet lol

Some alternate universe Earth that somehow related to the lore

NA is kinda rush yes as they want to release newest contents asap

don't worry about Japanese tho as the tweaker tools does apply English patch for us

with almost 100% story translated, aside from recent story update

NA will soon experience the mission that took place in this anime episode ( Profound Darkness initial form on Navarius space )
While JP have EP6 space war against "Profound Darkness" ancient photoner fleet

Persona really got the shortend of the stick, well at least this timeline Matoi is saved. Interesting to see the many mysteries unfold even though it's noticable that they skipped over some stuff and rushing things (as usual with game adaptations). It was better than 'the animation' and also the kind of story from a game adaptation I initially expected from it instead of some spinoff.

Wow, I'm glad the ending was a happy one. Also the thought that someday they may be able to save [Persona] was good to give them hope. Sadly, there's no such thing as slice of life episodes in this which make it terribly impossible for some to actually connect with the characters. There was so many things that I would like to see but it was good enough to be an entertainment. 7/10
It's not that I dislike this genre but... to add unnecessary fan services to/in/for heroines
and ultimately destroys her character and personality; their purity tarnished because of it,
is the only thing I hope to not happen to them. For that sole purity is my fan service.
