I followed the plot okay: find the Manticore eating people, help the friendly alien, Nagi investigates like a badass, Boogiepop shows up to help and give speeches about humanity.

BUT I still have a million questions:

So if bodies were getting strung up by wires, and that's what Boogiepop uses to kill people, was she killing the drugged-out "runaways" thinking they were the Manticore? I mean, since they were soulless slaves i.e. walking corpses, they were technically dead already, but there were some headless bodies laying around, and the cops wouldn't know they were basically zombies.

What happens to the drug dealers now that their master is gone? That girl crying blue juice from her eyes, what happened to her?

What do the cops think of all these headless and partially eaten schoolgirl bodies? Plus the ones on the school roof? The puddles of blood left by Nagi after her throat was slit?

If they find the bodies on the roof, wouldn't school get cancelled for a few weeks?

Why did Boogiepop think the danger was over in ep 1 when the Manticore was still running around eating people?

Do any of these questions get answered later on, or are the cops stuck with "there's a cannibal serial killer on the loose and people died on top of the school and there's a puddle of blood where a body should be" and have to close the case?

It's frustrating me. And suspension of disbelief isn't the problem: I had no problem with the aliens and Boogiepop and whatever Nagi / Fire Witch's supernatural powers are. The real-world consequences just don't add up.

UPDATE: I've finished the show, and almost none of these questions were explicitly answered. However, there is a secret organization that was experimenting on the alien and created the Manticore, so they could have covered up some of this mess with the crime scenes. Money gets a lot done.

Boogiepop tracking down the drug dealer slaves beheading them would actually make sense: they were already dead and were spreading dangerous drugs that they could make with their own bodies. Since Boogiepop shows up to stop threats to the world, a drug that makes people easy prey for a man-eater definitely counts. Their corpses were probably just attributed to the serial killer.

The students on the roof could have cleaned up Nagi's and ex-Manticore's blood by using a jug of bleach and hosing it off or something. Nagi would probably have done it herself.

As for the former Manticore with an arrow through her head, maybe Boogiepop could do something supernatural to the corpse and remove the arrow, not sure. Yank it out and dispose of the arrow, then just moved the body off of the top of the school somehow. I mean, she can swing around on magic wires, I'm sure she could quickly move a body.

Nagi / Fire Witch's powers do get explained in a later arc.

The novel may explain some more of this, since the show packed a whole novel into just 3 episodes. If I ever read the novel and find out, I'll comment on this post.

I'm quite sure that Manticore killed all of these "drug-dealers", zombies, slaves etc. Firstly, Boogiepop acts rarely and wouldn't kill some nearly dead people that are not enemies of the world (notice that Boogiepop almost ignored Asukai Jin's actions for several episodes, Spooky E etc., so it looks like it's quite difficult to become an enemy of the world (and Boogiepop)). Secondly, in these episodes we see that all of these Manticore's experiments on creating slaves were failures, including Akiko (I think that is the girl crying blue juice from her eyes you mention), and it was mentioned that Manticore and Saotome killed failures and were going to kill Akiko as well, and I think they did it.

Next, are you sure that there were actually "partially" eaten bodies? I think either Manticore didn't leave anything or anyways she and Saotome wouldn't have done a simple mistake such as leaving the corpses on the roof, for example. Plus, the world of Boogiepop is kinda strange one, especially Shinyo academy, We know that students ran away because of exams (just what kind of exams were they taking??), but police or parents did nothing to resolve it. Well, as far as I know, there is some pressure on students in Japan, but the author takes and amplifies it further, dividing Shinyo academy and the rest of the world and creating some chaos within the academy.

Yeah, and Boogiepop or, probably, Towa organisation could have cleaned up the mess, but I don't think that's an important detail, and we see the same thing in some other shows, for example, fate stay night.

About the danger that was over: episodes don't go in chronological orders, esp. in this arc. First episode was more about Boogiepop and how he became friends with Miyashita's boyfriend, not mentioning the events that occur in the background.

Also I really liked the first novel, there are some things that weren't adapted, including my favourite chapter of it, but I'm not sure that it helped me understand what's going on.

I had started replying before reading your update to the post, and english is not my native language, so excuse me if something is not clear from this post, you can reply here if there is something.
