That sucks. We're not even halfway through the show and we're getting a recap.

That's some BS.
A 11 to 13 episodes show doesn't need a recap period.

Who the heck does a recap after only 4 episodes, I mean I don't see the point of recaps in general but this is just ridiculous.
Just read the manga it's miles better than anime adaptation anyways.

I mean they probably need a recap episode to fill the seasons time slot, by having 11 episodes inside of 12 there's probably space at the end of the season, still I'd have much rather had the hour episode at the start split into two or the recap being later on

It has nothing to fillup slots. If they wanted to fill up slots they could have easily split episode 1 to two episodes. Most studio have production issues so they choose recaps inorder to work on the next episode.Last season we had about 8-9 anime which had recaps after 4-5 episodes.Babylon took a month hiatus and Azur Lane will air this march.Jeez,I hate these kind of production issues.

why the heck would they do this.. they did this for aufrietta too..

i doubt this is going to get a season 2 and is just here to boost manga like every anime at this point.

4 episodes in and we have a recap, of a show with 11 episodes hmmm....
pretty sure most people's memories are better than needing a recap for a currently airing 11 episode tv show, let alone while we're 4 episodes in

I don’t agree with recap episodes with seasons that aren’t any longer than 12 episodes but it’s understandable as well since it’s half way through the season since there are only 11 episodes and episode 1 was an extra 20+ mins so technically it’s half way through the season in terms of the amount of episodes and the story especially if they are going to end the season on a certain part from the manga/light novel that I’m thinking it will end on so it makes sense. Anime only watchers wouldn’t understand the reasoning why there is a recap but even though I know what’s going to happen I’m still disappointed myself about having a recap right now, it should of been done after the events in episode 5 rather than now

Big bummer *sighs* There goes my weekly silly, yet weirdly entertaining anime episode.

Woow, a set.

So does this mean there's no full-length episode this week?

I remember SAO Alternative and even Cautious Hero doing something similar. It's just a cheap cop out to stall for content, and it's definitely annoying.

This is even worse that Cautious Hero with a recap for a 12 episode anime.

A recap for 4 episodes really? This is also an 11 episode anime, which makes it that much worse. Does this mean that we may even get a recap for episodes 5-8? lmao, I wouldn't even be that surprised if they do that at this point.

I almost never post, but the staff for Darwin's Game is extremely short staffed. The fact they were able to produce a double-length anime episode the first week was impressive. I would rather wait a week, especially when the anime is only 11 episodes, to give the animators the opportunity to produce a quality product.

I quite enjoy Darwin's Game, but I would rather wait a week to allow a staff working an arduous work schedule to produce a quality work rather than have a subpar episode, which then everyone will berate for lack of quality.

They really out here thinking we forgot 4 episodes worth of story. So tired of unnecessary recap episodes

Well they obviously don't think viewers forget 4 episodes of material, they are using the recap method that gives them another week to finish the proper episodes like every other time strapped show does.

Normally this is could be the case, but the situation in china might also have something to do with it if any of the staff working on the show had family in china for the chinese new year, i know the devs of the game my day in portia made a post talking about delays or something due to some of their staff being behind the quarantine zone, not to mention nintendo's shortage announcement, now i don't personally think that is the case, but it is indeed a possibility, considering tons of companies are having problems due to it.

One way or another the reason for the delay is actually simple, they are lagging behind on episode production.

True. Never considered that there are lots of holidays going around Asia at these times of year. All that hassle with the recent virus has everyone restless too. That is very unlucky. Best to be considerate, and let them take their time: It's been rough for a lot of folks there.

Pretty much this, anime artists most of the time have shitty work conditions and insanely long hours to begin with.
I wouldn't even care if it took them 2 weeks to produce one episode, as long as its a good quality anime. Some of the best anime took even years to produce, and some anime lately have been victim of incredibly shitty production, I am looking at you nanatsu no taizai!
