If you want me to explain in short then we should thank Mai's movie which successfully created awareness about donations and transplantation .. which save our shoko

I would also like to know I do believe I have an understanding of the ending I've just recently watched it but what I would like to know is do sakuta and mai have the same memories they lived as we have seen from them or was they're entire meeting and life diffrent from what we have seen with the timeline change

Finished the film a few minutes ago and am still full of emotion.

I'm still a little confused, but couldn't there have been a better solution? Couldn't the older version of Shoko have sacrificed herself in the accident to pass on the heart a second time? That way the younger version could at least survive until university.

Not a happy ending, but better than giving up. Or would the heart have dissolved with her?

What happened to 'Bunny Sakuta' will happen to 'adult' Shoko. Her entire being will just dissolve.

Everyone, I have a question. Assuming that Shouko underwent a heart transplant due to Sakuta's "donations" and Mai's "movie", which ultimately saved her life, when did Shouko's "heart transplant" exactly happen? Was it after Shouko had successfully finished writing her homework back at the classroom? When Shouko was on the verge of her death back at the hospital? When?

In the present obviously because the "movie" was done after all the things that happened. Though the donator isn't exactly mentioned as sakuta, I believe it was just unknown person.
Shoko wrote her future planning made her didn't have puberty syndrome.

@darksideee, first of all, thank you for answering my question. Yes, that's true. Assuming that the "heart transplant" of Shouko happened roughly the year before she met Sakuta on the beach after New Year's, was Sakuta already donating that time (which supposedly helped Shouko have a successful heart transplant)? Also, did Mai already have her own movie finished that time before Shouko had her heart transplant (which also supposedly helped Shouko have a successful heart transplant)?

I'd appreciate your answers. Thank you!

Yes her heart transplant happened around christmas and new year, but it's not necessary true that sakuta did the donation.

Of course, people's awareness of heart donation was increased thanks to mai's movie, so the movie was done before the heart transplant.

Just a reminder, after shoko wrote her future planning she didn't have puberty syndrome which makes her adult form didn't meet sakuta in the beach during the first season. Actually in the present timeline, shoko and sakuta didn't meet at all, but everything else stays the same.

Edit : sorry, they didn't meet at all, until that last scene in the movie where they actually met for the first time after shoko got her heart transplant

Here is my sort of 'theory about the ending'

1.Shoko could not complete her homework in fourth grade because she was worried her heart disease would 'stop her from acheiving her dreams'

2.She starts transiting between times, probably to see how her 'future would look like'..and in the process gets linked to our MC and Mai.

3.Due to the link up, her future looks like...she survives only if Mai or MC dies...either way, people get sad.

4.The ending works like this..1) she accepts her fate 2) sends back enough information so that she never ever meets Mai or the MC...which 3) resets the timeline...4) leading to Mai taking on a role as an actress in a movie about organ donation in the new timeline..and 5) in accepting her fate, she orchestrates the events where neither Mai or MC don't die.

(Thanks to Kenpls here https://myanimelist.net/forum/?topicid=1787227&show=0#msg58456966 for this idea).

5.As a result, Shouko creates a new timeline where she survives...via a third option.

6.Which begs the question...someone else died in the new timeline so that Shouko got a new heart...

7.IMO...the film is about accepting the inevitable. Shouko could not accept the fact that a) someone had to die in order for her to live b) probably felt that she was a burden on everyone else. c) probably wished to die....

However the third option (ie..she creates a future where Mai and Sakuta don't die...and where in finishing her homework...then...creates a series of events that lead to her getting a new heart thanks to a film being created possibly inspired by the homework...which Mai stars in...and which leads to more organ donor awareness...which leads to Shoko getting a new heart...).

That's my silly theory about this whole film.
@Nigerianotaku40

Makes very much sense in my head. Thank you for explaining.
