| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- Probably my favorite Alola league episode so far. First off, the whole thing with Hoshi was actually so adorable--it's really cute how she looks up to Gladion, and he in return is reminded a lot of Lillie. The battle itself as well as the setup so far has been really good. Besides maybe Ash, Kiawe is probably the strongest of the Pokemon School gang, so its cool that he's the one getting to face Gladion. It was also refreshing to see Gladion get caught off guard sometimes (such as when Turtonator used Shell Trap). Gladion has so far shown himself to be one of the strongest trainers in the anime (along with Guzma), but that doesn't mean that he's completely invincible. Like in the games and manga, even he gets stressed and nervous when something surprising happens. Also, I just want to mention that a). Gladion loves spamming Stone Edge and b). His Lycanroc is a freaking TANK. It was still standing after a Flamethrower, one or two Iron Heads, a Shell Trap, AND a Focus Blast. While at first I was like "do we really need a Team Rocket scene" in this episode, I'll admit, that scene got a chuckle out of me. But why do we keep getting random Bewear and Stufful scenes that don't matter AT ALL? The time that scene took up could've easily been used to extended the battle and make it greater. Looking forward to next week's episode! Also, can I just hear this from someone else--does anyone else besides me still want Gladion to be a part of Team Skull? In the games at least, I always felt like that was a big part of his character. Maybe if it happens in the anime, he's looking for a lead on where his father is and somehow gets involves with them (since it's obvious that after the League we're going to be seeing a continuation of the search for Mohn). |

| im glad they decided to allow more than one pokemon for the final stretch, Gladion vs Kiawe looking so good because of it. was so worried Kiawe was about to drop two falls in a row and have Gladion save Silvally for the final tho...as the person above me said, Lycanroc is indeed a tank! they are giving so much respect to Kiawe, i love it. i woulda laugh if Turtonator finished Lycanroc with Shell Trap making it look like it won via super fart |
| Kaki's "little sister complex" is his only "uncool" trait, but at least Hoshi still rooted for him. xD Their battle is being cool so far too, but Garagara fell too easily and Bakugames already took damage before being able to defeat Lugarugan. I really wish Kaki could win, but Gladio didn't even use his father's Zoroark yet so I guess it won't happen, and it will become yet another predictable outcome. But it can still be a cool battle to the end, I hope Bakugames can hang in there. |

| My highest praise for this episode is that Lycanroc's Outrage attack looked really cool. I also wasn't expecting Turtonator to beat the wolf, so that was pretty surprising. |

Gladio vs Kaki. Garagara got beat. Bakugames getting fucked up. Holy shit! Dat Fighting Spirit Bullet! Look at Satoshi and co. faces. Lugarugan got beat. Silvuddy is up. Dat ending. Tsuzuku. |
