This is sad, this was the first Japanese anime of any type to feature voiceovers

This is a bit old, but I do believe the voiceovers were not present in the film itself but performed by live actors, often pretty famous ones. Still very cool and it's such a tragedy that so many pre-war Japanese animations and films have been lost to time and likely destroyed.
