If this series was all girls then it would be Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai and it would be a far superior series. Fortunately, Kouya no Kotobuki Hikoutai already exists, so Girly Air Force is redundant and unnecessary.

Yeah, I guess you did. Sorry 'bout that.

P.S. I am biologically unable to recognize sarcasm, so sorry 'bout that, too.

No problems there. I'm not being sarcastic or so

It's a fact and i'm probably a stupid dumbass for liking this series without really reading the source material...
looks like u had learned ur lesson here u may like jet aircraft but it was the WWII-era planes who were the victors in a aircraft-themed anime here and to be specific Kouya no Kotobuki might be ended again with more action-packed dogfights with a little betrayal while GAF just ended also with a betrayal but in a messy conclusion and btw forget ur history of watching Girly Air Force
The current game that i play: Azur Lane :3

Yeah, i learned my lesson not to watch anime all together anymore..

If that makes you feel happy and superior...
i can forgive you for that and anyway never underestimate the Japanese WWII aircarft that were featured in Kotobuki it had some famous ones and they had enough information to tell how they were used in some air battles during the war and also most of these aircraft were captured and evaluated by the Americans (or the British) like the A6M Zero and also the French used the Hayabusa in the 50's in limited use (during the First Indochina War) and they also used a single Zero floatplane for that :|

I'm not too sure. Japanese and Western audiences have different preferences and different expectations for story telling.

Kei would be the character that the target audience would relate to the most. A Teenage/young adult male thrown into a situation he knows nothing about and has to learn how things work about the situation he's be thrust into. A self insert so the story can explain the plot with dialog quickly rather than trying to show it and most people not quite fully understanding what the author intended.

It's more of a plot device to give us, the audience, some ground to establish so we get the plot and story elements quickly, easily and efficiently. There's also the fact the MC should be easy to relate to because there's nothing worse than an MC you can't understand or like. Having the MC be a female or no self insert to push the plot points along alienates a lot of your target demographic in this case since the target audience are adolescent/adult males.

And again, Japanese and Western audiences have very different views and opinions in anime, us Western viewers aren't the core or target audience so while we would say "[x] would be better" it is actually wrong since it's not made solely with us in mind. Anime caters to their biggest target audiences and, as sad as it may be, we aren't that target the majority of the time. In Japan, this show probably done pretty well, hence why these shows always seem to get green lit. They always seem to do something right for the core demographic or they wouldn't keep getting adapted.

Regardless, I enjoyed it for what it was. Maybe I'm bias because like I watching a whole bunch of things shooting at a whole other bunch of things and making them explode. Adding cute anime waifu's to that just makes it even better for me so I don't think the story would be any worse or better without Kei in it. But this is pure conjecture on my part, I'm not an expert in this sort of thing but just from what I have seen and how I view it, these reasons seem to be the most plausible to me. I could be talking absolute nonsense and the creators have no idea what they're doing so do it by the books for a quick cash grab, that's also a possibility.

Then it would need to have older plane females, and be a hentai. At least the male main charcter was there to ask questions and further the plot, terrible as it was. The show was ...meh
