| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- Honestly, I only checked this out earlier this week cuz it was only one chapter long and was free from WSJ. The cover art looked unappealing to me, and so did the color page it started with. But man, once Ayaha was introduced and we properly met Higuma himself, I got really hooked on this. The concept of Hell Wardens was more compelling than I expected. Reminded me a lot of both Soul Eater and Noragami, although in this case, it doesn't have the commonality that both series share (humanoid weapons). The basis of having many Hell Wardens working under this Lord Enma person reminds me of Death overseeing the Meister-Weapon duos. And the concept of a powerful guy roaming modern day Japan along some supernatural aspects with these fugitive spirits reminds me of the god Yato against the Phantoms (even featuring a cute girl tailing behind: Hiyori and Ayaha). Although the big Noragami change I see is Ayaha becoming a Hell Warden herself (without realizing), which will make the rest of the series reeeeeaaaally interesting. I wonder if she'll be getting her own Hands to work with. |
