Eiji dying would be the best thing to happen to this show in the last 10+ episodes.

That said, I doubt he dies, and therefore, the show won't be saved.

I'll never get tired of the old trick where you use a lit cigarette to get yourself out of a bind, it's a classic blunder.

To think that Yut-Lung would finally give in to Blanca's desire to go out and protect Ash/Eiji, but it was too late. Damn you, Yut-Lung.

Yep, that ending was painful. I was anticipating it the whole time, and the relentless feeling of anxiety and dread that comes with it.

The amount of pain you can hear in Ash's voice at the end and the way he just mercilessly kills the assassins and pumps their bodies full of bullets really adds to the rage of it all.

Even though I read the manga. Im still not ready for the next episode.

Ash can’t even catch a break, he can’t fucking even get 5mins of happiness or normalcy. Fuck this. WHY?????????

Fucking Yut Lung, y u so obsessed. Get a hobby!

I know
but this is so frustrating. It’s outright tragic. In an AU, Ash and Eiji leave for Japan & live in Izumo peacefully. He deserves at least that.

but i’ll probably remember over and over again
you were there and everyone else was there

The amount of times Ash gets raped or rape is mentioned in this show is pretty traumatizing. I'm glad the show doesn't treat it so light-heartedly but it's just so hard to watch it...

I'm fucking shaking. Oh my god, that end tho. I didn't read the manga so I was not expecting that. Ash was pretty shaken up too.

Also, fuck Yut Lung. Sing is way better than him.

what makes this more painful is that Ash was saying “sayonara” (goodbye) and then eiji got shot...

HOLY FUCK

"Say-on-ar-a?"

"Say-on-ar-a."

Most who watch Banana Fish now more or less probably have some knowledge that this was eventually going to play with their emotions towards the end (other than episode 9, which was of course gut-wrenching in its own right), someone was bound to die. But I was expecting such an event to occur in the final episode, or maybe the 2nd-to-last episode. I was not expecting it to happen now... and that makes it all hit even harder. Maybe I should've see it coming when they showed the credits on screen without playing the ED, just yet. Or maybe when out of nowhere, Eiji starts teaching Ash some Japanese and they share another, one last, moment together. Yeah the second that Eiji said "let's go to Japan together", everyone should probably know, that that's probably not happening.

Ash is now freed from what was both his weakness and his strength. He's been called a lynx, a leopard, a wild beast, but now will we see him truly leave every shred of humanity left within him, his heart and soul that was brought to the surface for a brief moment in time by Eiji? And is it Yut-Lung who becomes the sole target of his revenge? Because now that the one person he truly cared about is gone, Ash is probably going to put Banana Fish and Cape Cod and everything involving Papa Dino on the back-burner for now. I can't imagine anything else being on his mind right now other than taking the life of the person who took the life of the one who gave life to him.

It's unfortunate that when it really matters, the bad guys lose their storm trooper aim.

This is tragedy. It awakens the hidden emotions within you, which certainly something comedy cannot do. "The best songs are the saddest". Sadness is beautiful when seen from a platonic view, no ? Sorry for being a bit philosophical.

But just see how fragile a human life can be. It took days to build the trust in Ash and Eiji's relationship. But everything almost ends with one bullet. Tragedies can make us realise one of the harshest truths. And this "love" thing is just like butterfly. It makes you feel amused, gives you happiness from its bright fluttering wings. But try to catch it, you either trap it forever, or crush it by pressing it too hard, mistakenly. That's what Banana Fish depicts along with the main plot.

Today's episode was a burning proof.

I hope Eiji is dead at last. I think 22 episodes serving as an Ash's Achilles Heel plot device was more than enough.
I dig the William Faulkner title btw.
