Just HOW does one erase the memories of EVERY. SINGLE. PERSON. A subject INTERACTED with. That's just plain unrealistic. I know it was a necessary sanction of the plot but this is the only thing that's a real "stretch" for me. I liked the anime a lot but this one piece of the plot just really wasn't cutting it. I want an in-depth explanation from the direction regarding the memory erasing process. They said the ReLIFE employees do it... so do they go around with a memory-stick like in Men in Black or something?

I agree, the memory erasure aspect is ridiculous. Maybe he meant it metaphorically, as in they will not interact with him as a 17 yr old anymore, and he will look older inexplicably.

Also I got strong Sawako vibes too, it's nostalgic...

In the manga, it seems that the more time a ReLifed person spends with someone, the more effectively memories are erased, so, I think vague recollections of "some classmate I wasn't close to" remain. The manga is a great and easy read. No wierd paneling or bubbles and great art...I recommend reading it from the beginning!

I have my doubts about this, because if that was the case, Arata and Chizuru would never have remembered what happened after their Relife experiment ended.

What I think actually happens is that their memories aren't being erased, it's more like they are being locked away, and those memories can be unlocked. Kind of similar to how amnesia works.
