I can recap it for you quickly, I'm currently re-watching it, too. I haven't actually finished my re-watch of the second season so I'll just tell you all the main bits.
Dude named Mo Fan wakes up in the same world he is used to but suddenly there is magic everywhere, and people can train to become mages. He does not have a biological mother (it's not explained what happened to her) and his dad is very poor. He has a step-sister as his dad re-married, but the new woman quickly left him and her daughter, so Mo Fan cares deeply about her (not in an incestuous way). Mo Fan really wants to go to a magic high-school but he is too poor and possesses very little magical affinity. However, his dad begs and is humiliated by his old friend who runs the school, but allows his son to attend the magic school as long as he mortgages his house. So Mo Fan goes to this school and works very hard so he can repay his dad. Everyone knows that he bought his way into the school and no one expects anything of him, so he is bullied. However, during the magic initation ceremony, Mo Fan awakens the strongest common element—fire. The class is surprised but his star rating is still extremely low. But the class did not know that Mo Fan also awakened the strongest element—Lightning. So Mo Fan secretly trains and becomes hella OP without anyone knowing. At the end of the season, Mo Fan is asked to fight the Mu family's heir on his 18th birthday. They think he is much stronger than Mo Fan so their plan was to humiliate him in front of all the high-class citizens. They decked the kid out with anti-fire equipment and all sorts of wack shit so Mo Fan didn't stand a chance. However, the kid insulted his dad so Mo Fan gets crazy pissed and uses his lightning element to screw over the kid. Everyone is shocked and Mo Fan becomes the number one student mage or something, and gains access to the Holy Spring to boost his training. Now we go into season two. While Mo Fan is training in the Holy Spring, the city is overcome by monsters and everyone is trapped. He has to protect the Holy Spring and the school's students and kill this giant ass monster. I think he does kill it but I don't remember since I'm still re-watching, but I can for sure say that season two's plot is concluded and the beginning of season three, Mo Fan is sent to some new area to improve his training.
Thanks a bunch, i'm good to start watching season 3, though ill probably watch both of the last seasons again at some point soon, the new(ish) release has me remembering how much i enjoyed this show.
