WAY better than Progressive, this was a pleasant watch imo. Obviously not as good as the OG of course, but decent, non-offensive overall. I’ll give it a 7/10, I’m glad I watched it (at the very least to cleanse my palate of the shitfuckery that was Progressive)

I liked this one a lot more than the prequel, quite nice development and a great ending if you ask me! FLCL is really Fooly but also very Cooly!

So, was the middle-aged man in the soba shop... Naota? It kind of struck me at one point in this episode when he was talking with Haruko and they were talking about how he took up smoking when he had turned 17, almost like they knew each other when he was younger. The scene also made it seem like they had a lot of history together.
They never did mention his name throughout this whole season, though, did they?
I was waiting for the big reveal towards the end, but... nothing came of it. I still think it's pretty plausible, though... especially with how similar they look, and how much Amuro was trying to recruit Naota in the original OVA.

Wow didn t think about that ! That would be genius, but at the same time Naota had a lot of NO and wasn t dull, so I don t think it s the same character.

Liked this one quite a lot. I was feeling kinda sad because I thought I would not "understand" this two seasons after watching the last one. Mainly because I thought watching a "girl" coming of age would not resonate with me as much as it did with the original, and yeah, it kinda did with Progressive. However, this one proved me wrong. I loved it.

It was almost like a return to form for FLCL after the weird ideas and terrible execution of the last one. It seemed like the previous one did not get why FLCL worked, while this one did, for the main part.

The melancholy and atmosphere of a coming-of-age flick is back, alongside the general atmoshpere of a small town with small problems. I liked all the characters, especially the main one. I also enjoyed that Haruko was not searching for Atomsk in this one, even though the excuse for her being there was kinda stupid and lazy.

The one thing that did it for me is that the show decided to return with the metaphorical battles to deal with each character's issues. I felt like the previous season got rid of its metaphors and just had normal episodes with battles at the end and a short time after those to develop the characters. Here, the battles are foreshadowed and have a reason to be. For the most part anyways.

I don't know, overall I really enjoyed it. It was a fun ride. Yeah, the themes were all in your face and the exposition was outta this world, but in general, it was a relaxing and fun.

8/10

So basically this ending was about dealing with a friend moving out without telling you... you're frustrated and scream your feelings out and then you continue to live your life.

The problem with FLCL is that now you know it's a metaphor for puberty etc. it's easy to get the message so it's bland.
That why the first one was amazing, it was an incomprehensible mess " wtf is that robot" "wtf is that girl" "why is there a giant iron". Now it's not the case anymore and it'll probably never be again.

Didn't quite get some of this stuff, like, who were the Canti-likes and what actually happened at the end there? Eh, it's not a big deal, FLCL's not the kind to tie up things in a straightforward way, hahaha. Way better than Progressive, as while that one tried to be the original but failed, this one was its own thing, a more down to earth and relaxed take on the coming of age type of story (down to earth and relaxed for FLCL), with probably the most likable main characters the series has had (favourite characters from the original and in FLCL in general are probably Eyebrows and Kitsurubami), plenty of nice interactions, situations, stories, lots of laughs and smiles to be had. Had a nice experience watching this. Still won't revisit it much compared to the original (which I already don't revisit too often), but y'know, I liked it!
