Seeing the thumbnail here and the "hint" on the DVD-Cover - that it was made by the 'Your Name' producer - I wonder why the score is so low now all of a sudden, given the fame of his previous "masterpiece" (I still think it's just another of those anime's and it's just a compilation of working tropes of other movies and series)?

So, was your name just a 'whoopsy' by Makoto Shinkai or were some of the other leads on the porject the actual key element? Because I also happen to follow the other side of the craze from the start of the year and saw some critique about Makoto Shinkai's movies that mostly have pretty visuals, but mediocre stories...

He had nothing to do with it. It was a case of the other people involved thinking they can recreate the success without the director. If Makoto Shinkai was involved it wouldn't have been a fuckup like it was.

So it's rather misleading the people to buy the Blu-Ray then? Because it's a topseller atm, but I don't know how well the actual producer Genki is known above the people over Shinkai...

Huh, I thought they cared a lot about reputation, yet japanese are also prone to bend their backs after failing, so I wonder where this will lead them...

They only slapped the Your Name title on the cover because the producer (Genki Kawamura) was the producer of this ... thats the only relation between Your Name and Fireworks.

Actually, should I watch this? Is it anything unique at least?

These days I just stopped watching if the same old tropes keep popping up.

Shunji Iwai directed the original 1993 episode, which usually automatically makes it good.

So I don't know.

Who needs a sequel to a movie? Especially that has gone so bad for now. I haven't even heard about it on one of my journals, so it probably gained more attention from the commercials from online-shops than actual movie goers. And from what I heard so far it seems to be nothing special. Maybe except the art, but that was never a problem for anime. Bu apparently being a main characters parent or sibling is a bad thing in anime...

once you understand it it will be a beautiful movie
No matter who much you regret or wish,
if you couldn't do something in life,
you can't do it after death, either.

A plot hole implies the show contradicts its own logic/plot. Seeing as the logic in this show is fictional (not based on reality) and they don’t give a concrete explanation as to how it’s all working, it doesn’t have any plot holes because we don’t understand how their world and that orb work. At no point does it go “this works a certain way” and then turns around and contradicts it.

I think it would be more accurate to say the plot is not explained well in any manor.

It didn’t make a lot of sense, but the ending implies they were together (or maybe even dead, but I don’t think so) so imma give it a 7 That it doesn’t deserve cause my sappy ass likes a happy ending :3
Lolicons are scum.
BABYMETAL is more metal than Metallica.
Naruto is objectively the best anime ever.
HxH 99' is decent. HxH 11' is bad.

What happened is that its bad and creepy as hell with how it treats its female characters, ESPECIALLY the teacher and female lead.
K-Pop? Bias? Nah man, we only know Ai and Ruby Hoshino in this house.
