Wait... what? This can't be the end. I mean, I have a pretty good idea on what will happen and how Kazuya will be saved. But is this really supposed to be the end of the "arc" so to speak? Guess I'll have to check out the next chapters after all, even though I wanted to take a little break from Kaiji. Those goddamn cliffhangers man! They are killing me!

Though it's strange that Kazuya would name the machine after his mother. The misunderstanding was never cleared up... but perhaps even the coldhearted Kazuya eventually thought he'd forgive her, or really missed her from the depths of his heart. But to be "betrayed" by "Mother Sophie" again? Well, if he DID die, it would be pretty ironic. I guess in this scenario, Kaiji is analogous to the old maid then who will save him.

Either way, this is still very exciting! I am just mad at the cliffhanger. :P

/edit: And if you think about it, this is all still the same night from all the way back when he started his Mahjong game! Kaiji (and I, the reader) really need some respite, this shit's intense. I will continue reading at least until this situation is resolved, then I will officially take my break. I don't wanna get cockteased endlessly by waiting for one new chapter a week.

If by any chance one of the translators sees this: You are doing an awesome job! I really didn't have a single problem with the translations, on the contrary! I actually have a new favorite quote from Kaiji from this arc. "Not even death can cure me!" What a badass.

155 is the final chapter of One Poker-Hen, but similarly to how one poker started in Kazuya-Hen volume 10. The first two chapters of part 6 still use the one poker title. The volumes do split the chapter correctly though.

You can write them a thankful comment over here: http://fkmtkrazy.blogspot.de/2018/05/one-poker-hen-252-254.html

The last chapter will be released this week so let's see how this arc ends.

Thanks for the link, I did just that! This is one of the crueler cliffhangers, so I am looking forward to the resolution. My favorite cliffhanger still has to be the one about a potential UNO game back in part 3. :P

And thus the seed of abandonment issues has been sown.

I read this planning to finish part 5 and take a break and it ended like that!? LOL. I was in the same boat as you my friend.

I had speculated that our boys would grab Kazuya's feet and pull him up or hold him in place as another runs to get the black suits, but now I think its going the route of the new Asian three turning themselves into a safety net, running down to allow Kazuya to fall on them and lessen the blow.

Kazuya had a mentally hard life. In his young mind, his mother abandoned him and she died before he could understand that it was a misunderstanding. Kazutaka later in life abandoned him for his brother as well, favoring Kazuki, and treating both pretty harshly from childhood. And his 'friends' all abandoned him. From the very beginning of his life he saw the world as a cruel place and no one was ever there to set him on a different path. "WHAT THE HELL KINDA LIFE DID I HAVE?!" :(

Do I smell next arcs villain as Kazuki? We started with a battle with the king Kazutaka himself, then went from a battle with one of his low ranked guys Ichijou, then another lower ranked guy who had direct ties with Kazuya, then his less loved son, so if we're following a pattern we may keep going up the food chain until we get a battle with Kaiji and Kazutaka again. Kazutaka sent him down to the bottom with a loss and it seems that Kaiji is building back up to him again, stronger than ever.

I wonder if Kazutaka became the cruel man he is today in part due to losing his wife, it could give him some more depth.

I like to have a rating at the end of a part, but with no real conclusion happening I don't know what to say.
