@Hekselka So I uh... found a way to enjoy this game in our digital age at a relatively cheap price... and I'm enjoying it so far. I find the simple and isolated family feud story so relaxing compared to the apocalyptic scenarios in later FE games.

Ah, nice. Blazing Blade is a good game, don't let the perma death scare you, the game isn't that difficult and is mostly forgiving and doesn't pull a lot of the BS stuff that some FE games do.

So a few things I should mention:

Lyn mode is pretty much a tutorial mode so it might seem somewhat boring at first but it gets better.

Don't bother using archers in this game except for maybe a certain blonde haired one and her husband. Archers in BB only have a 2x effectiveness against fliers so that makes them pretty bad.

And yeah my favorite thing about BB's story is how it's not a saving the world/country storyline and that makes the game really stand out in the series

@Hekselka Yeah haha. I'm being so careful with every unit placement. I have this habit of trying to level everyone evenly because in Fates:Conquest I got to the last chapter and had to go back to the grind for ages because none of my favourite units were suitable for the battle.

Yeah CQ is a pretty difficult (and all the more fun for it) game so you shouldn't bother using units that just aren't good like Odin. Wait...you can grind in CQ? I thought that they disabled that option in that path. Not that I would do it if I could, CQ is a lot of fun if you just play through it without the grind.

From what I remember of FE7 you should use 2 cavaliers, so Sain, Kent or Olwen. Oh and when you get Pent use him he's godlike.

@Hekselka You can do all the challenges, then do a single DLC mission and all the challenges are available again. It's possible to get many gold buildings in your fort like half way through the game, and level everyone somewhat evenly.

I got distracted from FE7 now since my new 3DSXL arrived (SNES edition). Will get back to it soon(ish).
