----------------------------------------
I had a strong suspicion this was going to be a post-war inspired story and that the world outside may be alluded to be a nuking of sorts. That's been confirmed these last two chapters, with the teachers not wanting to leave and being so sure that it was a bombing, the radiation outside of the gates being enough to kill the likes of Sakippe's brother in seconds, and the comparison of the students to stranded soldiers (who will end up eating each other I presume). The sign indicates that the school was warped in time in some way far into the future of a nuclear bombing but kept in place due to this convoluted nature of time. I can't imagine the rock the kid found said anything other than Rest In Piece for those who should have been lost within the school.

Hata fired that gun that he randomly knew how to use, presumably more post-war themes, to show them it worked and that he knew how to use it but it lead to Sekiya hearing them and getting the advantage. I've never seen a story so willing to portray kid death, Sekiya stabs and shoots kids like it's his job! Seeing all them work together David vs Goliath style was satisfying, even the girls were ready to fight if they had to. I particularly liked the scene were Shou told them now's not the time to freak out, they need to get food before anything else.

As much as I loved that scene I can't say Sekiya is the most fascinating character. He was a lunch guy no one respected so now he has a god complex and wants to make everyone suffer while becoming the king of the school and refusing to let anyone else eat. That said, I do think he has a great point that one or few people could survive rather than everyone eating and running out of food only to starve in no time. He's just... a bit too exaggerated. The way he set all the teachers on fire was pretty hilarious. I wish that we saw the characters get pushed to the brink of insanity rather than showing them already there. If Sekiya had been shown to have something make him realize he had to act this way and he slowly drove to the insane point he's at now then I'd enjoy him much more, since the only problem in my mind is his execution.

He was also quite clearly there to contrast the selfish moral that we've only heard not to do of keeping everything for oneself with Shou deciding to give food to the boy, share the food, fight for his peers and for the his responsibility of keeping the boy safe. Lot's of strong should protect the weak messages. I wonder which we're supposed to aspire to be like, hehehe. We ended with him learning to appreciate the small things like meals and we even get a hint of that when the kids were grateful for their snacks.

Last prediction: We saw the burglar's blood trail lead into the wasteland but as far as I could tell there wasn't a body. I'm curious if they'll come back deformed from the radiation or something.

I was enjoying the story before now but these last two chapter gave me a lot more to look forward to and answered some questions.. even though I still believe we should have had some more speculation and action from the teachers than just "we were bombed and everyone's dead so don't go outside".

I was so keen for the kid to shoot Sekiya!😣😣 But I guess being killed with a gun just like that would be too quick for someone like him. His death will not satisfy me so he's better off locked up like that and be starved to death just as he had planned for the kids at school.

She got him back. If you understand the characters well enough, you'd know she did!
