Pretty boring episode, i mentally switched off for the first 10 mins. The flying ants action scenes were pretty bland. Not really feeling this series it doesnt seem to have any overall story.

I see, so this is just a half-full glass vs half-empty glass issue then. I guess some people focus more on the similarity with other works while others focus more on the differences/judge a series on their own merits.

What I don't get though is the issue about voices. No matter how much I think about it I just don't get why many people seem to have a problem with the voices.
Then again, I was perhaps so desensitized by really - and I mean REALLY - bad English and German dubs that anything from Japanese VAs just always sounds good no matter what.
Well high pitched voices make me cringe as well as irritate me especially if they talk for a long time with the same high pitched voice, much like how Pochi and Tama. Another thing I find irritating is the "~nano desu" Pochi keeps adding to each sentence. Similar to Isekai Smartphone's Yae who always added "~de gozaru/ka" was one of the reasons I hated listening to them speak, though that's different from the topic at hand (we're talking high pitched voices) but it's another thing in this anime I found irritating.

As for the other language dubs I totally agree. Since I'm part of the sub over dub club I know how bad English dubs can get XD But then lolispeak is the only thing in Japanese dubs I hate (aside from de gazorus and other quirks), else the Japs are doing an excellent job with voice acting.

That's more an issue with the Japanese language/culture than anime (and/or manga) as a communication/art medium. Those verbal quirks are equivalent to character trait indicators. If you hear a character ending every sentence w/ a "de gozaru" variant, odds are they fit the "samurai" character archetype, whether it's anime, manga, or live action. If not a samurai-type, then it's going to be a particular breed of archaic-speech loving hardcore otaku. <,<;; The point of most of the common verbal quirks we see in anime/manga is to create a cultural level shortcut to allow bypassing character explanations.

Well if we're getting into specifics I don't have an issue with an actual samurai character saying "~de gozaru" like for example Kawakami Bansai from Gintama says that and it's bearable and understandable that he does it. Yae from Isekai Smartphone doing that... not a similar effect. I know and understand your point very well that it's a cultural reference but quirks like "desu no" and "desuyo ne" are definitely not things samurais used to say in Japan XD

Moreover it's more about who says it than what. Like I mentioned, some characters flow the quirks in perfectly, like Bansai, but others can't, especially if they're not actual samurais or are fanservice excuses like Yae (pardon me, I dislike Isekai Smartphone so I bring Yae up again and again). Other times the non-samurai quirks like "desu no" etc. can be made bearable by the Voice Actor. Take another Gintama example, Kagura. She says "aru" between or at the end of each sentence from the first episode till now, yet I'm not irritated. Why? It's because Rie Kugimiya made it seem so natural and not forced that I got used to it and didn't feel any sort of irritation. Props to her for that.

Point is. If we follow your logic (which is correct) then either quirks depend on character to be understood or the voice actor should make it bearable enough or make us used to it.

Did you watch this episode?
I don't think you did.
... Rewatch the episode. >_>;;

-----------------------------------------------------------------------------------------------

@Yasaal: Problem with your idea is.. how long is Gintama? XD This show on the other hand is 97% going to be only 1-cour, and it's half over. There just isn't going to be enough time to get used to anything annoying before the show is over if you haven't already. lol

I dunno, maybe I'm just totally immune to being annoyed by "nano desu" after too many years of omnivorous anime viewing and being able to sing along to "The Great Nano Desu" song by Horie Yui from one of the Higurashi soundtracks... <,<;;

No wonder you can handle it so much. You've been at it for years XD I on the other hand am not an old fan of anime since I started quite recently (about one and a half years ago) but I still feel it's too annoying. I also find repeated quirks and other stuff annoying for that matter...

Not much happening in the series overall, just like in this episode. I don't particularly mind that, it's pretty chill and enjoyable, although I would like to see more from the concept of him being completely overpowered. Right now he only uses it every once in a while.

I hope that near the end it is revealed that he's super strong or something and he goes on a badass destroying spree, while protecting everyone and also being filthy rich (he had like 1000000000 gold coins if I remember correctly).

But hey if they just keep doing little things and eat food till the end it's still not too bad. Enjoyable average anime so far, 6/10 (3/5 episode).

It's not like i dislike this anime.
I really enjoy whatching it, but this episode really disappointed me.
There wasn't anything new or special in it and in my opinion it felt just like some boring filler.

I keep finding myself making comparisons to Isekai was Smartphone. Honestly the shows are damn near identical. Only real difference is instead of a smartphone that does everything, he has an MMO HUD that does everything.

I keep going back and forth deciding what parts I think are better from each. Like I definitely like that Tomoya from Smartphone doesn't puss out on being OP. He embraces it. Doesnt mind telling people he can learn every kind of magic. Used his knowledge from his past life to legit invent all kinds of shit from cuisine to guns.

Satou on the other hand hides it so damn much. Like who cares dude? You're level fucking 310. You are literally a fucking god to these people. There hasn't been a person yet over like level 20. You can max out any skill you want at will. You wiped out an entire canyon of dragons with a meteor strike that had religious people in the city thinking the world was going to end. Why not embrace it? So far it doesnt seem like anyone other than him can see the "in-game" things he sees anyway.

Tomoya's harem was more generic, but at least they didnt beat around the bush with the harem and romance. They made it clear from the get-go that every one of the girls loved him. And he actually approached it rationally; asking them if it was really ok that he loved and married all of them, and they were all cool with it. Which made him cool with it.

While it was a neat concept, it kind of ended up fucking with the character by making Satou a 30 year old in a teenagers body. Because he still keeps all of his adult mind sets while being in a body not suited for it. And it's cool that he sticks by those morals too, pointing out how hot some of the adult women are and how too young some others are. Hell, mega fucking props to him for banging a bunch of bitches in the brothel, and acquiring all of those skills at once huehuehue. But now you have a bunch of girls who are his characters age who are genuinely interested in him and creates this rather unnecessary conflict. I'd like to see him grow out of this as his character develops though, because sooner or later he's going to have to realize he isnt 30 years old anymore.

And in comparison to Smartphone I find Satou's harem to be a bit more interesting. I think the characters are much more diverse, and it's cool that they're combined in such a way that he has genuine love interests as well as just companions. They let him have a party of women that fills both rolls. Obviously Tama and Pochi are too young, they're children. Liza has only shown loyalty and respect. And then you have Zena and Arisa who have shown genuine interest. With other characters yet to be shown.

he wants to sightsee,guess what happens to that when everyone knows you're a god who can destroy the world at any moment

This was an OK episode, the play was boring and the ant fight felt weird and a little too easy, but I enjoyed the interactions of the characters, pretty much the only thing I like about this show besides the fact it's an isekai RPG anime). Wonder if MC will get to use the new skillz he got lol.

I don't know if this is just in the dub, but I found what the mustachioed soldier said when he was trying to get the cores odd. Part of why I like this story is the world building and I've been reading the manga.

He said they were required by law to sell their cores. This would mean that people would always sell their cores as soon as they could. However in the translation of the manga I read it seemed like the government just happen to need cores at the moment. This also conflicts with what Liza said a few episodes ago that they could trade them to merchants for supplies. Now this guy is shifty as hell, but he has no way of knowing Satou isn't from this world and he ran the risk of being called on it if this was a lie to scam him out of the cores.
