So while you are watching this show you'll notice that it occasionally shades Tachibana in colors and bubbles. Early on it is all like simple small circles that are a bit rainbow in nature but stick to a warmer color palette, but later on(in episode 5 so far) We get more clearly defined colors and shapes with each emotional scene.(Light blue hexagons when she is putting on Mr. Kondo's shirt for instance)

So here's my question up for discussion.

Is there meaning behind the coloration and style of those scenes? it makes sense that there would be because the different versions illicit slightly different reactions and emotions.

I wonder if future episode will expand and expound on it.

If it is then we can spend this whole thread gushing more about how good this show is. If not.. oh well. still love the show :P

So i did a little research into color theory and shapes.

here is what I got, and first some of the sources I'm drawing from.
http://www.color-wheel-pro.com/color-meaning.html
https://www.symbolic-meanings.com/2007/10/15/meaning-of-hexagon/

First: The rainbow of primarily warm(reddish) colors are pretty clear. Without even looking into a complex theory of psychological effects or meanings of color, you could have guessed that its symbolizes her romantic feelings for Mr. Kondo.

Although whats interesting is the vast array of warm colors and shades. Seemingly demonstrating that her feelings aren't simple minded or childish but are more complex or mature.

Second: The scene where she is putting on his shirt is cascaded in a light blue hue with (interestingly enough) hexagons rather then the typical bubbles or circles we saw before.

So light blue as a color seems to have a calming or tranquil effect. Blue is associated with a lot of positive attributes when it comes to healthy relationships therefore,at least for tachibana, we get the insight of feels comfortable and at ease with this small connection she has attained with him.

Hexagon's mind you seemed to have an array of meanings mostly derived from the number of sides it has. Most notably though is it association with unity which more clearly parallels how she feels more connected to Mr. Kondo even in very literal sense of her body and his shirt.

Third: When she hugs the shirt a few minutes later we get the good old bubbly filter with one side of her show a warm orange color(which is dynamic because it is a gradient from red-orange to bright yellow) and the other side being green. Showing us a duality of sorts in her emotions.

So, the warm colors like red, orange, pink and the like are all in some way associated with romance/attraction. The mix of the red-orange's sexual attraction and the joyful yellow indicate a combination of her youthful spirit and her more "mature" desires.

Then you have the green which the best way for it to correlate here is with this bright green seems to be with it symbolizing either growth, in regards to her growing relationship with Kondo, or safety because wearing that shirt provides her the comfort of that connection which connects to the reasons she is wearing the shirt in the first place(Kondo taking care of her after the accident in the closet) OR most likely its both of those things.

That's a few of the things i came up with. Are they valid? or a bit of a stretch?

What do you think?

Alright so Episode six came out a few days ago and here is my continuously useless thoughts on this subject. I wonder if I'm just up my own ass in overrated analysis.

Nevertheless, with more scenes comes more colors and shapes.... well not really.

Scene number 1: Young Haruka and Tachibana talking about their friendship. The interaction that has a hint of sadness but ultimately ends in the hopeful, happy demeanor that they will reunite in high school. This scene ends with a room wide glow of yellow which gives us clear indication at how close their friendship is and how happy they are to be around each other as this color doesnt just float around in one corner or just take up the space of a bubble, It literally exudes to take up the entire frame, masking everything else except our pair of ladies.
--Then there are the soft pink circles that are gently placed in just a few spots in the frame. Accentuating That strong bond of friendship they once shared. Together This one image strongly demonstrates the connection they used to have.

Scene number 2: Flashback number 2 - After catching up to child form tachibana, she tells haruka why she likes running and we get more hexagons! So when we get this bubble of emotion from haruka, I caught two things. First is the Hexagons instead of bubbles or any other shape.

in the last post I mentioned the hexagon when she was putting on Kondo's shirt. In which it seemed to be communication the unity or connection she had with him at that moment. This second use of the hexagon seems pretty similar EXCEPT, I think its symbolized their unity of thought processes/ideals/whatever you want to call it. Haruka is fully realizing and connecting to who tachibana is as a person and their union/bond/connectin starts to form.
--And this is further accentuated by the very subtle pink tinge on a couple of the hexagons to show their true friendship blossoming.

Final scene 3: Tachibana hears the wind. I like this one, its subtle but i think its hinting at some strong development for her down the road when it comes to her and her love of running.

So, when she hears this wind we get a couple different colors of emotion in the form of a few sporadic bubbles. The bubbles seem to be exaclty what you'd think "the bubbling up of emotions" for her and ones that she maybe forgot she had.
-The first color and most prominent is this darker red(or maybe red-orange) right behind her head, possibly indicating that it's the most prevalent feeling. Among the general thoughts for what these different shades of colors mean(which are a bit fluid to be fair) I believe that this is her passion for running literally bubbling back up. This color and most prominent bubble indicates her strong desire to have that feeling again that she used to love.(and now I'm sad thinking about that)
--The second color is actually pretty brilliant. the smaller yellow circle that intersects with the big red one, showing us the happiness thats associated with her lost passion. subtle, yet beautiful.
---The third color is this light(lime) green. Easily enough green is associated with nature so you could leave it at that but that seems to boring so i think we have two approaches. Either an anger/jealousy towards the loss of her abilities which could be revealed in upcoming episode but this one feels unlikely. What seems more tied to her as a character and what this wind represents, i think is that this smaller but central(literally on screen) bubble is the peace she feels from this sound. Taking her away from all the other noise and isolating her as she "melts into the sky".

Well, thats what i got. not sure if its worth much but its making sense to me so far. So far this style still seems intentional and if so, I'm loving the attention to detail and exquisite way to display the emotions of this show.
