| Started out interesting, but ended in a very goofy way. |
| Most of them are decent, but my favorite is easily Village of the Siren. The Supernatural Transfer Student would be second to an extent, but Junji Itou's art of a demon king being summoned to rule the earth was awesome. A village being enchanted by the roar of a surviving demon (of formerly three) through loud speaker sirens, started all by the reincarnation of a man, with the ritual possessing the woman to gain demon wings, killing babies as sacrifice and then summoning the demon king with the gift of a beautiful young virgin. The terror of it all as it unraveled with the boy's mother unleashing her wings was great, while the boy survives from her now deaf friend who drew a circle of protection around them. A transfer student having the ability to (seemingly) unconsciously create supernatural phenomenoms around him as he searches was cool. To then all vanish as the places return to normal when he leaves. The rest weren't extraordinary, but still interesting in their own way. A town secluded to travel only through other's homes without streets, with people wearing masks as a small sense of privacy. It's odd how the female protagonist's family became like the villagers before she went to escape to her aunts after they started to stalk her. Her classmate who had a crush on her, sneaking to her room to whisper in her sleep as she dreams to influence mutual love, to then die from a psycho who somehow got into the dream as well, killing the boy in it was weird though... I wonder if there's a logic to it from folklore or whatever. Near Miss and Maptown were ok. A ghost plane with the dead appearing before a friend who flew in search of the crashed plane that was already crashed, and a town where people lose their sense of direction, where the boyfriend protagonist somehow loses his girlfriend. 6/10. |
