At the moment of writing this, s1 has 8.6 score, while s2 has 8.89, which feels very wrong to me. Honestly, s2 was a mess. There were couple of enjoyable episodes, especially ep4, but overall we were introduced bunch of pointless characters and the plot kept going in circles. Did someone actually enjoy s2 more than s1 or is it just the usual bias of later seasons having higher grade since people who disliked s1 won't watch s2?

Shouldnt be surprising, its the sequel effect as usual.

Unless the sequel was garbage, the sequels will always a better score than the first seasons since the people who didnt like the first season pretty much dropped at this point.

Honestly, this season was even better than season 1, wrapping everything that season 1 ever brought up nicely in insane emotional moments, changing the perslective of the whole series in a wholesome and game changing way that makes us appreciate the characters even more, and ending on a perfect note that capitalizes on all remaining themes left on the table. It proves as much closure as humanly possible while letting us know that life goes on beyond this story for these characters, which most conclusions don't actually do. I do wish it more effectively concluded the whole thing about Yotaro's temporarily plummeting reputation and that there was no bad CGI rather than mild amounts of it, but those are the only possible complains I can have with such a masterful follow-up to one of the best shows of the decade.

Sequel effect is in effect too, but damn if this isn't as worthy of a follow-up as one can be.

I'm not surprised that the rating is higher than S1. I'm mostly surprised at the rating the anime got as a whole.

I don't like being that person, but I really feel that this anime is vastly overrated. And I'm saying this while I have actually enjoyed this anime.

Of course it has a higher rating. While S1 was a fantastic season, and ended on a great note, S2 just added to it and gave me closure I'm glad I have. It had a similar plot in the sense it kept me on the edge of my seat, I wouldn't say AS good, but very similar. You add to that, we get to see what really happens to this family, and Rakugo, as I'm sure I'm not the only one interested how the art would go on without Sukeroku.

Basically, in my eyes, I see S2 as an amazing way of closing out the show; giving the viewers closure while continuing the same amazing anime.

I'm surprised this show got lower rating compare to some of the more meh shows on Mal which is also highly rated.

I bet it's some impatient teenagers/ young viewers giving this show a 1~2 because they find the show "boring" without the edge/ super-power stuff.

Considering how many younger audience on this website, maybe it's not that surprising.

This season is not that great. Only Kiku is keeping this show alive for me.

That's what I dislike about further season bias, so I take it cautiously. I didn't care much for season 1. I thought it was mostly boring. So it made me wonder what was so much better about season 2. But it's probably just people who like it enjoy the continuation and only rate it high compared those who dropped it or won't continue season 2. I might watch some of it but I prefer the honest lower scores because at least I can really see that it's not as good as those with biases are making it out to be.

I agree, season 1 was a lot better in my opinion. In this season there are a lot of time skips, they pushed to the side the matter of konatsu becoming a storyteller, and the new rakugo stories also.

These 2 subjects only come to a very rushed closure in the last episode, and even in that episode, where all the new masters and performers gathered, konatsu had 0 time on the scene and was totally skipped WTF. We could only hear her performance 1 time with the kids.
