Finished Kuzu no Honkai yesterday and well the school/romance anime i'm watching don't really compare it maybe is just my opinion but i was curious if anyone else felt this way.
It maybe the maturity in it or something but i feel like the others are missing it now,

If Mugi was done after 10 seconds then yes, you could say that this relationship progressed fast, beacuse that's all what was that relationship about. :^)

Well, thats how I deal with my problems being a 26 years old guy. Not sure if Im mature or not, but I can totally relate to the anime.

I think I get what OP means. It shows a different side of romance than what you see in casual romance anime. I guess it's really lust more than love/romance, though. But it's done tastefully. I never once felt like I was watching a hentai during the sex scenes. It just felt like it was a much deeper anime than the romance series where the furthest they go is hold hands and maybe kiss like once in the entire show.

And by mature I think OP meant that it deals with more adult topics, cause again, most romance anime really don't go beyond the same old high school drama type stuff.

People just can't apparently see past the sex parts. A single action can convey a lot of things but y'know, the viewers don't want to think too hard. It just goes deeper than simple "I like him and he likes me" typical romcom story. I don't know about anyone else but the sex scenes were not erotic but rather depressing. In fact I get angry at some of the characters for their actions. Also this series triggered plenty of sympathy from me too.
TBH it also played with my hopes and dreams at times.
I'd say if it gets you to feel some sort of emotion, it's fairly good at the least.
Its mature because it targets more mature themes. Their actions were not mature but it wasn't supposed to be. Also, there's quite a lot of things on sexual coping mechanisms.

The only true romance there was was Hanabi towards Kanai. And probably at the end Akane and Kanai, though there are plenty of hints that Kanai is using Akane as a replacement and a coping mechanism for his own mother.
