Episode 0 felt normal with the introduction of the general setting, main characters, etc. However, it got weird when this huge mysterious object popped out of the sky.

Poor Shindo's friend. He got caught right into the mess....
Not really impressed yet but curious to see where this goes.

Nice introductory episode, it's got my interest. Bit of a cliffhanger at the end too for the next episode.

Same here for me....Thought they did a pretty good job establishing Shindo's character as well as his skill with and drive for what he does in his job

I felt bad for his friend at the end there though.....Still, I'm kinda excited to see what happens in episode 1

Shouldn't episode 0 be another entry on mal? Separate from the main series?

This was a nice introductory episode. Shindo is very good at his job. The cliffhanger at the end continues for the next episode.

Nice introduction to the characters. Expecting some high level negotiating after this appetiser

Not what I was expecting, almost an entire episode spent talking about metal plating... it looks like it'll pick up from now though.

Also, the CGI isn't horrible so that's a plus.

So am I, watched this without any information at all I was expecting a "real life bureaucrat at work" anime, never expect I'll get a "bureaucrat at work, with alien" anime.

Ha ha ha ha, It got me trolled too XD I thought this was a typical seinen slice of life anime about MC doing his work as a bureaucrat.. never expected to it ended with weird alien box in the sky covering a plane

Seems like there are so many double episodes, double-length episodes, and pre-air specials this season. More than usual. Season is stacked as is, so it's tough to keep up.

Otherwise, this was pretty good.

Really nice introductory episode, definitely got my interest. Thought it'd be normal bureaucratic themed anime (even if it was, I'd still watch because it's quite refreshing and different), and then Transformer's AllSpark swallowed them all... CG is good but kinda amusing to watch at the part Shindou squeezed his friend to watch the freaky thing happening in the sky

Wish I hadn't read about the cube beforehand, it would've completely surprised me. I didn't find any of the characters all that interesting, but with a cliffhanger like that how could I not watch more?

Preliminary review that was deleted:

So far, Spring 2017 is looking pretty week beside the awesome returning shows (Berserk and of course, Titan), but, besides that there seems to be nothing of major intrigue or substance.

Because of that, I almost skipped what looks to be the most original and captivating Anime of the season, and maybe, of the entire year.

Power through the first episode (episode 0) until it's cliffhanger conclusion, because you will be seriously carried away by the major shift in both the feel and the story, and toy will definitely want to know what exactly "just happened."

By the end of the following episode you will be a fan! If it's not for the beautiful art work, that switches between vivid, eye popping and high definition colors and 3Dcgi that ACTUALLY looks good, then you will be captivated by the mysteries that the show has to offer.

So far, the characters are all looking quite promising as well. This is definitely for a more mature crowd- one that can appreciate world building and more beaurocratic dealings , and it's definitely for those who crave some mystery and intrigue in their stories.

I'm excited to see where the writers lead us, on what is already becoming quite a strange trip.

Realistically, too. Now that's a slice of life episode.

It's a relief to watch an anime that isn't about high school.

Really enjoyed Shindo's character and his personality!

Also the ending of this episode really comes out of the blue huh?

The original premise the show sets up was already something I would watch a season of. But holy shit when that cube appeared my mind was blown. I was told to go into episode 0 blind without even looking at the poster and it paid off. Incredible. The subtle character development and the greatest friendship of all time. People who thought this was trying to bore them to death must be the type who need anime with hamfisted philosophies to feel smart and constant action, a harem of women, and a lifeless douche edge lord protagonist to self insert themselves in.
