Were they actually playing or was it just the radio?

While they state/imply that they weren't (and it's also implied by that scream Yui does, which sounds nothing like her), I find it REALLY hard to believe that due to:

1) Music from a radio sounds (and feels, when you're near the source of the music) REALLY different from an actual performance. Azusa should have been able to INSTANTLY tell the difference.

2) Even if it actually came from the radio, when she plays the tape, the volume sounds normal aka not so loud. We don't see anyone manipulating the radio or unplugging any cables after she enters so that doesn't make any sense.

So which is it? Is the song played live (and if so, HOLY SHIT xD), or is it prerecorded and therefore a plothole?

Ofc, perhaps I'm just overthinking the scene xD.
