This has been in my head every since I watched the movie. Why is the english translation "The Monster and the child" and not "The monster's child"? Reason being that most of the time the japanese "の/no" is a possessive pronoun or otherwise projects an ownership kind of intent.

Seems the same thing with Shingeki no Kyojin, though if I remember correctly they debunked that at reddit or stackexchange.

Any thoughts? Interested to hear some speculations as well.

Most of the times, the companies in charge of the traduction dont traduce the words in a exactly way. Its true that "no" its a possesive pronoun, and it have that meaning in the original movie, just that the companies decided to change it (for some reason). xD

I would chalk it up to localization deciding "The Boy and the Beast" sounded more friendly than "The Beast's Boy."
