| THIS IS A MANGA ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS ANYTHING BEYOND THIS CHAPTER. ---------------------------------------- "Kiku and Ryû" The manga starts at a better point than its animation! With this first chapter's depiction of the Takane siblings life, their departure for Tôkyô will seem far less egoistic and the motivations behind their goal is a lot more believable (especially because Ryûji starts with no interest in boxing).  Kiku is a super 14 year old girl ! About the ages, I noted a big inconsistency: - the late father is said to have been ranked in the world junior rankings three years ago. If the age limit for the junior section was 21 years back then, he couldn't be older. - Ryûji is a fifth grade elementary student, meaning he's around 11-12 years old. So, his father got him at only... 12 (in the best case) !! - Worst: Kiku starts as 14-15 (she's in her last middle school year). So, she was born when her father was still... 9 years old! XD 5/5 I expect good things from the next chapters too. (Some people may find this too dramatic.) |
