does anyone know what the poem was to symbolize?

umm not really sure, I have been wondering about it as well. But according to me, I feel the poem symbolizes their love. For instance the part about the rain soaking wet, I felt was similar to the scene where these two share an umbrella.
And I think they found or rather understood what they felt for each other during the autumn time.

In the brief scene where the teacher asked everyone to pass out the handouts, it was a print of the poem. (It shows it in the manga)
