I read the episode discussion but no one discussed about this.

Here're the key points that I remember, correct me if I'm wrong:
1. At first we know that Akihito is half youmu with her mother a human.
2. Mirai then sacrificed herself to take the 'beyond the boundary' youmu
3. Akihito takes back the 'beyond the boundary' youmu, Mirai disappears (because she got absorbed by the youmu?)
4. Mirai somehow comes back(how?) and Akihito gave her glasses (what is she actually now? human?)
5. After wearing glasses she lost her memories(for no reason?)
6. Story moved on, we saw some flashback of Mirai's childhood. We saw Akhito's mom talking to Mirai's mom also (were they acquantance?). Akihito's mom talking about how long she's been gatekeeper between the worlds (what's a gatekeeper actually does?)
7. 'beyond the boundary' is somehow sealed by the ring
8. Aside of some, Mirai still hasn't regain her memories. She still has her ring

So what Mirai, Akihito, and his mom actually are? Is Mirai a 'creature' created by the 'beyond the boundary'? same for Akihito and her mom.

Also, I hope there's more to how Mirai got her ring. Her mom asked Akihito's mom to create a ring from her body. So afterwards Mirai must've received the ring from her somehow and how Mirai know the ring is important to her need to be in scene.

I heard the anime was completely different from the light novel so there's no way we could tie those loose ends. So these are just from my own analysis (meaning there's no way of proving it)

1. It is presumed that Aki became half youmu when his mother sealed the shade from beyond the horizon (shade for short) in him. But as nase said, only his mother would know what really happened
2. That's the goal they had in mind yes. But what happened was shade survived by merging with mirai's blood. Then shade created an isolated space where it could kill mirai to completely take over.
3. After shade goes berserk and tries to destroy the world, aki decided to once again absorb/seal shade within him shattering the isolated space.
4.Mirai has no idea what would happen to her so she said that she would "probably" disappear along with the space. But since shade was still alive, she too would be alive. She just took a long time to transfer from isolated space to real world.
5. Loss of memory had a delayed effect. It happened because she was basically "incomplete"
6. Yes apparently so. She was only joking when she said she was a gatekeeper since she followed up with "would you believe me if i told you that?" But that wouldn't be so far from the truth if she really did seal shade in aki, her son.
7. Ring doesnt have to do anything with beyond the horizon. It only serves to protect mirai (prevent the youmu from corrupting her in this case) and those she holds dear.
8. She might never get those memories back. She only remembered some because it was shown to her.

Akihito's mom is a complete mystery. It was hinted that she's more of an observer who cant help unless it was necessary for the world. Akihito might have been a regular son where his mom sealed shade in him to prevent a disaster at the same time keep him in check (hence, gatekeeper).
I believe the "powers" of the spirit hunters (mirai included) was born from the "beyond the horizon"

The ring? I have no idea about that one sorry. Lol. But anyways as i mentioned, these are just all my theories (whig might sound idiotic to some) and in no way can i prove them because the anime is completely different from source material.

lol I'm surprised someone actually replied to my questions. I don't really remember the story but thanks for your explanation :)

I knew that Phantom World and Chuunibyo are different from light novel but I didn't know that Kyoukai Kanata is different as well.. Seems like KyoAni really likes making up their own story eh?

I don't think the theories are idiotic, but I hope maybe someday KyoAni will make OVA/Movie to confirm the theories..

Damn, these theories are pretty much accurate to my personal interpretation of all this, too. It doesn’t sound idiotic at all but really wondrous on the contrary.

I initially thought that Mirai coming back at the end of the tv series was all in the working of his head rooting from regret and dissatisfactions but this movie has confirmed that it was off by a mile. I really can’t think of any other reason than the one that you’ve mentioned, point 4. To elaborate, I think it was because Mirai existed in the Kyoukai no Kanata and Akihito’s constant feeling to retrieve her back somehow forced that to happen. As for the memory loss, it must have been something the Kyoukai no Kanata stoke away at the nick of the moment before she was released, I think the director was foreshadowing this information with the monologue at the start of the movie. ‘Incomplete’, I take it you inferred that from the second option that the monologue had to offer, but something tells me that just doesn’t click in, but again I could be very wrong about all this.

On another note, I really hope we got a lot more of Akihito’s mother, in particular, and the truth behind Akihito.
How can he manage to control all of the Kyoukai no Kanata within him without erupting(I mean like it’s bloody strong, so why can’t it just break through with force kind of an effect)? How’d it even end up within him? Does it have anything to do with the ‘gatekeeping’ that his mother mentioned? And lots more... What about the father anyway?

But can someone explain me what's going on right after Akihito hold her ring and run into Mirai, let her stab him so bad and then something opened in the sky, Akihito entered Mirai inside? I cannot fully understand that.

Thank you!
