Welcome to the Starlight Beginner's Guide! Here is where you will find most of the useful information the admins and I (the creator, not the one who posted this thread) have written here for you guys to get you started. If you have any questions about the club or any information that (for some reason) isn't here yet, contact any of the admins or the creator himself. Besides that, though, have a great time reading and welcome to Starlight!
General Rules
1. Don't be disrespectful! Be nice to everyone!
2. Keep everything PG-14! That means NO NSFW CONTENT WHATSOEVER!
3. Do not create threads without permission from the creator!
4. Don't ask to become and admin or officer! (It's annoying, don't you know?)
5. Don't PM the creator or admins about any requests! Do that in the request thread!
6. Have Fun!
7. Praise the creator...I mean, at least sometimes...just do it!
RPing Rules
1. Once your character has been approved by an admin or the creator, you can RP. (But, know that the creator can take back an approval if he considers the character doesn't match up to the regulations. (See below))
2. No Godmodding, Powerplaying, Metagaming, or anything in between!
3. Starlight has a STRICT 2 sentence Minimum per post requirement. The length of the sentences does not matter as long as they are complete sentences. However, don't keep people waiting by writing long paragraphs! (Unless, of course, that comes easy and takes you under 3 hours to do.) 3.5. Do NOT be repetitive with your words! Here's an example:
"I'll always love you, Soul!" She smiled. "Til the end of time." She smiled. "Even when we pass on, I'll be there in the afterlife." She smiled.
See how that's annoying? Don't do it!
4. Don't change the setting without the permission of the creator! (I mean, what kind of mortal can change things that are created by a god?!)
5. A character can't be in two places at once!
Combat Rules
1. Keep it believable! If it doesn't make sense in reality, or if your power doesn't allow you to do something, then your character can't do it!
2. Be very creative with your posts! It'd be rather hard to read your post and write a reaction if it looks like a 3rd grader wrote it. Grammar, Passable English, and Proper Sentence Structure!
3. If your character has a weakness, which they will when it comes to powers, abide by them and don't pretend they don't exist!
4. If your character has taken quite a bit of damage in battle, unless you have a power able to do this (which you most likely won't), don't just shrug it off and fight like nothing happen! If you are about to take a game-losing hit and your character can't move because they are too weak to, then take the hit! (This goes back to the first rule.)
Character Creation Rules
1. In this RP, you will only be allowed to have up to 3 characters. Admins can make up to 3 god characters.
2. You are not allowed to add powers or additional aspects of your power in the personality or bio of your character. Everything about any supernatural power of your character must be written in the power description. (Credit goes to Mirai High for this rule.)
3. After a character has been approved, it can't be deleted for 3 months once approved. You can request to delete it in the Admin Request Thread.
4. Once a character is requested for deletion, it won't be exactly deleted. It will be stored in a sort of Graveyard thread, where you can bring it back anytime. (In the RP, Hades will just send your character to the Underworld until you decide to bring it back.)
5. Once a character is approved, the only things you can edit on the sheet is the Bio and Personality. Besides that, you can't edit anything on it...unless you want to be temporarily banned for a week while you character is sent to the Underworld.
6. Make your characters original! Don't just take someone from an anime, movie, TV show, etc. and paste them here! (Pictures are fine though.)
7. Once your character has been approved, you will be allowed to create one home thread for your character. (And it will not be a mansion or expensive condo!)
8. And, before you ask, NO! You can't make a god, demi-god, or anything above humanity. You can make different species, but for the love of god (literally), don't make a damn god!(Exception:God Creation thread)
IC Rules:
1:No inflicting bodily harm on another fighter/mortal outside of challenges or tournaments.
2:Attacking gods is prohibited if it is against their will.
3: Interrupting challenges or tournament fights is forbidden. This goes for gods as well.
4:In tournaments and challenges, it is prohibited to cheat or collude with the opposition.(ex:convincing opposing team to let you win easily)Surrender is allowed in challenges and tournaments but will never yield rewards.
5:Defacing the mansion is prohibited, and given equipment may not be destroyed, damaged, or discarded.(ex:the iphones, TVs, etc)
6:Refusing to fight or otherwise train at all is not allowed if one wishes to remain revived.
Power Guideline
1. You can't make a power that takes control of anyone.
2. You can't make a power that allows you to read your opponent's mind.
3. You can't make a power that copies another person's power.
4. You can't make a power that nullifies another power.
5. You can't have a power that allows our character to see the future.
6. You can't have a power that teleports a character from one place to another.
7. You can't make a power that reminds me of One Punch Man. (By that, I mean don't make a power that makes you able to take down a person in one and/or a couple of hits.)
8. You can't make a power that goes against Rule 2 of the RPing rules list.
9. Most of all, don't make a power that is OP!
10. You can make a power that is similar to another person's power, but it can't be almost and/or the exact same.
SECTION II: STARLIGHT LEAGUES, RANKING, AND COMPETITIONS
As Starlight is a PvP combat based RP, we have set up a number of competitions for your characters to compete in.
Fights
First, we will go over the rules of a fight. An official fight is started when an admin declares it due to a scheduled fight or an accepted challenge (more on that later). The fight will begin with the character who has the most agility. If agility is the same, then it goes to speed, if speed is also equal then an admin chooses randomly. In a fight post it is required for you to post a detailed account of the fight, preferably with accurate depictions of reactions, actions, and multiple possible responses depending on the opponent's next move.
From here on out, a set of posts from both players (the first person's post and the reply to that post) will be called a round.
Fights will have a time limit of one week to finish. Once the time limit has passed, the participant with the upper hand will win regardless of the post count. A draw is only applied if both participants are on even ground or if both characters knock each other out in one round.
The winner of a fight will get 5 SP (plus 2 for if their posts are detailed impressively). The loser will get 3 SP (plus 1 for if their posts are detailed impressively). If it's a draw then both get 4 SP (plus 1 for if their posts are detailed impressively)
If there are disputes between RPers, admins will have the responsibility to sort them out.
For team battles, if the time runs out the team with the upper hand will win.
Challenges
Challenges are the rookies' ticket to league competition and an extra source of rank points for league contenders. Challenges exist in the same timeline as your normal RPing, unlike competitions. To challenge another character, simply state that you wish to challenge them. If they accept, an official battle begins. You can challenge at most 4 times a month.
For winning a challenge, you get 7 SP and 3 points. If you draw, you each get 3 SP and 2 points each and if you lose, you get 1 SP and 1 point.
If you manage to win a fight within 10 posts, you get an extra 2 points. If you lose but manage to hold out for more than 10 posts, you get a consolation point.
If you win against an opponent who is on a higher league than you are, you get an extra 2 points per attribute level difference.
Challenges with more than two combatants are possible, with two teams of the same number required. Each member of the team will receive the same amount of points as if they were fighting alone.
Further achievement bonus points will be added in the future.
The League system
The leagues are the championships in which characters are scheduled to fight every week for a "season" (one month)
The number of leagues depends on the number of characters available, with a minimum number of four leagues + the champions league (if possible).
Each league will have four contestants, with each contestant fighting each other once for a total of five fights. Similar to challenges, these fights will award a similar number of points, the points from all three matches will then be added up to make a ranking of each league, and the top contestant will be the champion of that league for that season and qualify for the next season's champions league.
The next season's league contestants will then be created based on overall rankings (points from all competitions) with the exception of the season's champions from each league, who will join the champions league.
The champions league will be a knockout tournament featuring the champions of last season's leagues. The winner of this league will be crowned the overall league champion, who will have the right to challenge a god or goddess of their choice. If they win, they take the place of that god or goddess, if they lose, they will be tutored by that god or goddess until the end of next season. 2nd place and the rank champion (or whoever's next in rank) will also have tutorage rights of a god or goddess of their choosing, other than the god or goddess the overall champion has chosen. (the overall league champion in the first season is determined by rankings alone, with second and third places getting tutorage rights.)
The winner each league will get an extra 50 SP and 20 points per person, second place will get 30SP and 16 points, and third place will get 20SP and 12 points. Last place gets 8 points and 10SP. The overall league champion will also join the next champions league (seeded, of course).
Team Tournaments
Team tournaments are knockout tournaments where you can sign up your character in the last week of the season. Be warned however, that the maximum number of teams that can be entered in a tournament is 8, and to make a secondary tournament, at least 4 teams are needed.
The winner of the tournament will get an extra 70 SP and 20 points per person, second place will get 40SP and 16 points, third place will get 30SP and 12 points.
Returning from the grave (aka from one of my old clubs), I bring an updated point upgrade system to Starlight. By upgrading your earning points through combat, you can level up, upgrade characters, and get stuff like extra character slots. Here is how it works:
Attribute Upgrade
You can spend 10 SP (Star Point) to upgrade any of your attributes up a level. Once your attribute reaches Prime, it will require 20 SP and Lv. 2 to upgrade any of your attributes up a level.
Once you reach Phenomenal, it will require 30 SP and Lv. 4 to upgrade an attribute to Demi-God. This is possibly the highest you can go at the moment.
We are now also offering ability upgrades to be purchased as well.
50 SP will allow you to upgrade your characters current ability, making it stronger. To do this, please contact an admin and notify them that you have 50 SP and would like to upgrade your ability. They will work with you on the ability upgrade so it is approved but still not to over powered.
40 SP will allow you to purchase a secondary ability. This will allow you to create another ability that can be just as strong as your original ability. That is before any upgrades were applied. To do this, please contact an admin and notify them that you are purchasing a secondary ability. They will work with you as you develop the ability so it is approved and not over powered.
Level Up
Characters are now given overall levels. Each student character starts at level 0. Level 1 is acquired at 40 EXP. Level 2 is 50. Level 3 is 60. Level 4 is 75. Level 5 is 100. More levels will be added as characters get that high.
Level 1 reward = A secondary weapon.
Level 2 reward = Duo. Once a character reaches level 2, they will be able to pick a partner. The partner must be at least level 1. Then they will work together to create a combo ability. This ability can only be used when both characters are present and when both characters are actively attempting this ability. To acquire this ability, you must notify and admin. The admin will work with you and your partner to develop the ability so that it is approved and not overpowered.
Level 3 reward = 30 SP to be used for anything.
Level 4 reward = Another Character Creation slot.. As well as 40 SP to be used for anything. If you purchase this, please notify and admin, and they will work with you on the event and character creation.
Level 5 reward = A third ability will be granted to you. This ability will be as powerful as your characters original ability before any boosts. If you purchase this. Please contact an admin and they will work with you to develop this power so that it is approved and not over powered.
Finally, extra character slots, weapon changes, ability changes, and SP redistribution will be able to be purchases as well. These will cost 50 SP a piece. They must come from 1 specific character. In other words, if you have 2 character, and one has 8 SP, and the other has 12 SP, you can’t combine those to purchase anything. All purchases for any of the upgrades, levels, etc., must be purchased from one character and they are applied to that specific character.
If you wish to transfer stat points from character to character, their is an exchange rate. For every 10 SP you want to transfer, it will cost you 4 SP. That is not even half. A pretty good deal.
