| THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE. ---------------------------------------- A colonized country and citizens living in fear of Japanese administration. Excellent portrayal.  From fear and anxiety of people under colonized rule to some people following their rule obediently. I loved how forceful Takumi was when he said he wants the ships ready within 5 day instead of 10, kind of also shows how tough was it to retaliate the oppression of colonized rule. The streets where Japanese immigrants coming to do business shows globalization so does the westernized banquet. The punch from the OP sequence makes sense now as well. Takumi is knowledgeable, he know bananas were an excellent produce. It gives in depth to his character. Although I did find the spy talking in Kansai accent a bit out of place and funny. The whole train checking scene makes us visualize how hard life was in those days. As it's implied, the spy killed himself from fear of getting questioned by the military. Another beautiful yet chilling result of war. On a bigger note, history sure is is changing. Tsuda showing up and Mirai being spotted by local fishermen seem ominous to me. |

| This is a well-recreated representation of a colonized land, from the way the people behave, the streets and even the hidden spies, being a lieutenant commander is a sure way to get around without much intervention, that's just how much authority the Japanese Imperial Navy has. As a guest to the land of the WW2 era, Yosuke can be seen at the mercy of Kusaka who's more knowledgeable compared to him of the ways this world operates. However things are rapidly changing, the effect to the cause that they have committed previously can now be observed. Returning to the 21st century that the Mirai crew were originally from is getting more and more unlikely, that is if they even found a way o go back at all. It's understandable that Yosuke would punch Kusaka out of sheer desperation, but I do have to say that it's quite immature of him. |

| The characters' face are rather stiff in this show. As Yosuke panics that the world he knew may no longer exist, it doesn't even show an expression on his face. The flashing images of his father and the port were a good montage to express his thoughts, though. |
