Hey guys, this is the thread to discuss our February AotM: Death Parade.

I'll kick things off.

The start of the anime was great. It was dark, edgy, and felt like a psychological version of the SAW series. You have to relive all the shitty bits of your life in order to decide where you go. The second episode was great on this end too, because we saw a fuller picture. And the introduction that these arbiters aren't absolute kind of set up this mystique for the rest of the show. "Is Decim making the right choice?" We as the viewer get to decide that because it makes it very clear that he's not perfect. Which could've been amazing.

Could've.

After the misery-porn of the first two episodes we're plunged into things that are a lot more "happy go lucky". I think we watch five games in total (not counting Granny's) and only two of them get "real". Like...I feel like that's a hard waste of the premise. Like, the episode with the NEET and the celeb mom was okay, but that should've been on the lighter end as opposed to the middle IMO.

Also Ginti's side-story was kind of rushed and really just Decim's but less involved. I get it, he's a foil to show how Decim does his job differently. However, it was super underwhelming.

I give it probably a solid 6-7, but this show could've easily pulled a 9 if it just hadn't pulled punches.
