Manga difference and chapters covered

Season 1 was canon until the first half of Episode 10. All that stuff with Rabo, Hiyori's amnesia, etc is filler. It adapted the 3 first volumes (Yukine's arc).

Season 2 adapts until Volume 9, ending with Chapter 39 more or less. It was canon for the most part. The Bishamon arc was a very good adaptation, even though they skipped some details that help with the characterization + Kazuma's entire flashback with Touma. When it comes to Ebisu, Episodes 11 and 12 were a bit of a disaster as they changed many things, added many others and forgot about very important things as well.

If there's going to be a Season 3, I'm sure they'll add it as flashbacks but still, I consider it bad writing. It's not because they didn't have enough time, but because they thought that Yato being awake and fighting that pacification ring (which didn't happen in the manga at all), was way cooler (I guess they need to sell those DVDs...). Basically some of the changes: Ebisu dies much more quickly and he dies in Bishamon's arms while Yato is still in the Underworld (Yato doesn't find out about Ebisu dying until he wakes up in Bishamon's mansion). Ebisu wasn't supposed to know how to get someone out of the Underworld (otherwise, he would have planned his escape beforehand), it was a mysterious child female God who appeared there and told them about it (especially relevant because there's a theory that she might be Amaterasu). Also, the reason for Kugaha being there was that Tenjin takes him in as his Regalia to keep an eye on him and then asks Kazuma to interrogate him about his master (Father) through a really dark spell. So yeah, they skipped quite a lot.

There's currently 62 chapters so I believe right now there's enough material for the first 10 episodes of Season 3 more or less (it's a monthly manga). If we're getting a Season 3 I'm going with Fall 2016 or Winter 2017... and even then, we'd have to wait a long time for Season 4 so...
