THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.

Well Kasumi was certainly an emotional wreck this episode. I think Katsuhiko might know her better than she knows herself...

Great episode with a terrible Kasumi. I have her immediate reaction to the kiss and her tears for Takasugi stucked in my throat.

As for Katsuhiko, I wasn't expecting him to be so warlike from the beginning (though it wa sobvious he was aware of something).

@0451 Beware: the anime has little to do with the manga, aside from using the same starter situation and characters. (It's obvious given the difference in size.)

Now I'm curious just how much does the anime differ from its source material.

It's not really time consuming to check. There might be an english "scan-lation" out there since there was a french one (in the mid-2000s). The difference mainly come from the fact the TV show is largely original. Of note, the comics doesn't have any semblance of conclusion.

@FlamingMangos Probably because it was taken to fill a year-long airing slot along Orange Road. The fact it was probably born out of the success of the Touch series might ahve helped the decision to make it a "long" series.

Man, I don't enjoy these cuckold fantasy type stories.
How the hell is Yusaku supposed to compete with Katsuhiko who's much older than him and is nearly perfect in every way? Well, Katsuhiko will probably feel bad about Kasumi and Yusaku and realize that pair makes more sense is what I'm expecting to happen later.

Ngl Yusaku trying to find a firefly and then Kasumi crying over him is probably the best scene in this anime so far. For a second there it seemed like the firefly reflected on Kasumi's eyes before it was spotted by Yusaku. It's probably just her eyes sparkling from tears but that could've been great attention to detail.

Come to think of it, despite having the same appearance and voice Takasugi Yusaku is the total opposite of Uesugi Tatsuya personality-wise. I didn't even realize the manga of Hiatari Ryoukou! was published in a shojo magazine until a couple of episodes ago. That explains the female lead focus and a few other things.

I had no idea. I imagined there'd be differences because the anime came out years later than the original manga. Now I'm curious just how much does the anime differ from its source material.

Do you know why the anime went a different path from the manga?
