I never really watched any of the Cyborg 009 or the Devilman series and I do not mind some of the older animation styles (1970s) but really depends on the anime since I enjoy the animation of Akage no Anne alot but do not enjoy Hokuto no Ken's animation even though its from 10 years after.
So my question is, since I want to watch something more recent and have knowledge of the series, with reading the manga as a last resort what series should i watch of both Devilman and Cyborg 009?
Should I watch the 2001's Cyborg 009 and the 2000's Amon: Devilman Mokushiroku?
Are any of them not worth it? I would appreciate if anyone could tell me! Thank you for your time.

For Devilman, it's imperative that you read the original 1972 manga since it never got a full adaptation, and then watch the two ovas if you want to. The third OVA, Amon: Devilman Mokushiroku isn't recommended unless you read the manga. It's a spinoff that will only make sense if you're already familiar with the story just so you can see how it deviates from the original plot.

For Cyborg 009, the 2001 anime series is fine. You should know though that Cyborg 009 only got a manga ending by the author's son in 2012 (God's War).

Thank you for your reply! But I want to ask three more things.

Do I need to read the manga before the first ova and how many chapters is the timeskip from the first OVA to the second?

Also after reading the first Devilman manga where should I stop so I can watch Amon: Devilman Mokushiroku or should I not stop at all and watch it afterwards?

Can the God's War ending be read right after the 2001 anime or do i have to read some of the manga?

EDIT: By the way I just noticed that there is a God's war adaptation for the 2001 anime! So I do not need to read the manga at all right?

If you want the full story, you will have to read the manga. It's not that long anyway and it can be read in a single sitting. The first two OVAs adapt the earlier chapters of the manga. The third OVA offers a few different events near the end of the manga.

Also after reading the first Devilman manga where should I stop so I can watch Amon: Devilman Mokushiroku or should I not stop at all and watch it afterwards?

Watch it afterwards. The third OVA like I said happens near the end of the manga.

Check the wiki if you need any additional info. (After you read the manga, since it has spoilers)

Can the God's War ending be read right after the 2001 anime or do i have to read some of the manga?

The author of Cyborg 009, Ishonomori has tried to end the manga several times. The manga itself has many endings, but Ishinomori ended up working on it again, because of fan demands. He absolutely wanted to end the manga, but he passed away before he could. The RE:Cyborg 009 movie is yet another take on the angels arc.

EDIT: The RE: Cyborg 009 is based on the Angels Arc, not God's War.

To answer your question, you can do that, but the official ending given by his son wasn't liked by the fans.

Once again thank you!

Alright then I will read the Devilman manga, and watch the three ovas afterwards! Maybe If im not satisfied with the last ova I will read the Amon manga.

And I will watch Cyborg 009's 2001 anime with the God's War ending and I will also watch the RE:Cyborg 009 movie!

Thank you again

Sorry to say, but the RE: Cyborg 009 is not based on God's War but Angels Arc, which was yet another attempt at an ending by Ishinomori. My bad.

The Amon manga's first volumes are great, but it really takes a dip in the last volumes. It also offers some more backstory to Devilman.

For Devilman,

The reading order should be like this. (At least for the ones that are scanlated)

Devilman (1972) (The classic one)
Shin Devilman (1979) (this one isn't really a sequel, but a side story)

From there on, you have two sequels,
Violence Jack (1974) or Devilman Lady (1997)

Violence Jack isn't fully scanlated, and it's more like a spinoff than an actual sequel, and then you get Devilman Lady, which is Devilman's direct sequel.

Then you can read Amon (1999) manga, but like I said, I didn't really like the last volumes. It also has a sequel called Devilman Mokushiroku: Strange days (2005).

For anime Devilman, you got the three OVAS, and the 1972 tv series which is totally different from the manga. And of course, the upcoming 009 vs Devilman crossover.

Oh thank you again!

Alright then my order will be:
Devilman (manga) Shin Devilman, 3 Ovas, Amon (manga), Strange Days (manga).
(I will read the other manga spin-offs aswell: Neo Devilman, Devilman vs Getter Robo, Devilman G, Devilman Tai Yami no Teiou)

Can I watch the Violence Jack ovas or do they not include devilman?
And can i watch the Devilman Lady anime instead of the manga? Or is it not fully adapted?

And it's alright i will still watch Re:Cyborg 009.

Sorry for bothering so much and thank you again

That's about right. However, it's not recommended to go beyond the original if you don't like it. Devilman was a big hit when it came out (inspired Evangelion and Berserk), but that was back in 1972. Not everyone can handle the 70s art and writing.

(I will read the other manga spin-offs aswell: Neo Devilman, Devilman vs Getter Robo, Devilman G, Devilman Tai Yami no Teiou)

Unfortunately,

Neo Devilman isn't fully translated unfortunately. It's basically a compilation of short Devilman stories by many authors.

Devilman G only has like one chapter scanlated. It's basically a reboot of Devilman taking from both the original manga and the original 1972 tv anime.

Devilman vs Getter Robo is a crossover. It is translated but you need to be familiar with Ken Ishikawa's Getter Robo. It also has a sequel called Mao Dante vs Getter Robo G and it's also not translated.

Devilman Tai Yami no Teou is a crossover with the big bad from Mazinger. It's not translated either.

However, Mao Dante, the original manga is translated. It's essentially a pre-Devilman manga by the author Go Nagai. It also has an anime adaptation, since the manga doesn't have an ending, but the anime is kind of bad. Mao Dante has its own untranslated sequels.

Can I watch the Violence Jack ovas or do they not include devilman?

Well, if you watch CB Chara Go Nagai World OVA, it's revealed that
. That said, it doesn't have much in common with Devilman since it's an episodic manga, with many characters (many cameos from various Go Nagai manga) having their stories to tell.

The Violence Jack OVAs are quite infamous for the gore and tits and I heard it was even banned in countries like Australia, but as a fan, I enjoyed them. If you're afraid your sensibilities might get hurt, avoid them. Well that's a general rule for Go Nagai's stuff.

And can i watch the Devilman Lady anime instead of the manga? Or is it not fully adapted?

The Devilman Lady anime and the manga share characters, but the plot is completely different.

The manga is a direct sequel to the original Devilman manga, while the anime is a reboot. The reason for the differences (like with the original devilman manga and anime) is because they were devised as both a manga and anime project, so both manga and anime ran concurrently. Go Nagai would work on the manga, while the anime staff would do their own thing. It's the same with the original Mazinger TV anime, Getter Robo TV anime etc.

And it's alright i will still watch Re:Cyborg 009.

I hope you like it. Not everyone does.

Sorry for bothering so much and thank you again

It's okay, I'm a fan.

And if you want to know why Cyborg 009 vs Devilman is happening, it's because Go Nagai (Devilman, Mazinger, Cutie Honey) was an assistant to Shotaro Ishinomori (Cyborg 009, Kamen Rider, Super Sentai) so this is his way of paying tribute to his late "sensei".

EDIT: I saw you watched Captain Tsubasa. I'm also a big fan of that (as a kid, and now). The manga continues the story where the anime doesn't. It's still currently ongoing with Captain Tsubasa Rising Sun.

Alright then so my final order will be:

Devilman (manga) Shin Devilman, 3 Ovas, Amon (manga), Strange Days (manga).
Then Violence Jack OVAs and Devilman Lady (manga and anime)
Is that spoiler you just told of big importance??
I'll try to see if i find the anime to Mao Dante any good, if not I wont watch it.

Cyborg 009 2001 anime and Re:Cyborg 009 movie

Oh and yes I watched Captain Tsubasa when i was a 7. But I haven't watched it in a while! The portuguese translations have the whole series dubbed so I watched all of it but only some episodes, i watched enough episodes to understand the general story (like 170 from all the 4 series) and I remember watching the last episode so I just put it as if I only watched the first series because its the number of episodes and i dont want to cheat myanimelist into thinking i watched all of it.
Oh and i only put that i watched it now because I saw the manga on your favourites haha

I want to get into old anime and I really enjoy Akage no Anne from 1972 but I cannot seem to enjoy the Berserk anime thats from 1997 even though I really wanted to enjoy it ; H ;
I'll have to read the manga I guess
Thank you again for the reply

Not really, but it's still better if you ignore it till you at least finish the original.

I'll try to see if i find the anime to Mao Dante any good, if not I wont watch it.

It has a controversial storyline if you're Christian, and the budget is kind of non-existent. The manga is just better in my opinion.

The anime is good, but there was a lot of padding. This is why I prefer the manga since the football action happen way faster. In the anime, the football field was like 5 kilometres or something.

Just came here for those exact questions:
Just watch 2000 Cyborg 009 anime? I'm iffy when it comes to manga art styles. What was the official ending disliked by fans?

For Devilman, the 1972 manga and the Amon manga?. I didn't see Strange Days manga on the wiki page. As for Devil Lady, is it really a direct sequel since......you know

I already saw the spoiler though ; H ;

And I'm the exact opposite of a Christian so I will probably enjoy that. But if the budget is that bad then I'm not sure. Alright I will read the manga but if it feels unfinished ill watch the anime

And stop basing your arguments for being bad on being anti-christ or too much gore and sex and blood! Thats all fine with me haha

You can read the manga if you want, but the 009 2001 anime is a good introduction too. The official ending is this:

Yes it truly is.

I'm fine by it too. It was just a warning.
