So i know we have quite a few threads already on the discussion of the series vs the movie and which one should the newcomers watch.
But I feel I need to add my own input on this in a new thread to not get over looked.
Since I've literally just finished the movie and scanned through all the episodes
I can say, unlike most of the posts i've read, that the movie DOES NOT contain
every scene from the original OVA's.
Some may consider these scenes to be "fat" that the movie does not need, but i disagree.
At least 7 different scenes throughout the 6 episodes were cut, the estimate total is about 5-10mins. which is nearly the same compared to the new scenes that were added.
I really don't know why the creator removed these scenes.
They did nothing but add a little more to the atmosphere, and background story.
And a little bit on the present time of the story as well.
so my advice would be to watch both.
doesn't matter in what order, as long as you can watch all the scenes that
were apart of this story.
Below I will include a brief description on what's missing from the movie.
episode 2 - right after the MC asks the robot about the change in his coffee,
he asks her another question about when she last left the house and what was her orders
from his mom. We also learn that his mom dresses her up like a doll sometimes.
(we do learn she does the robots hair, but not anything else like that)
episode 3 - we got some more background scenes of the robot couple that's always
touching each other in the cafe. we also get another commercial the MC sister is watching,
something about urban legends of the androids being used sexually.
episode 4 - the MC and sister has a coversation about their dad and his job.
the MC than explains about an issue with the older androids and the fuzzy logic
problem that was brought up a few times.
another scene shows Masaki in class, a classmate talks to him about why he's been busy lately.
another scene after the broken robot died, the same classmate overheard Masaki
talking to the MC through the window about androids.
episode 6 - at the end after the credits. the sister thanked the robot for helping her get
home, and than put a flower in her hair. the robot smiled, and than thanked her while tilting her head just like a human girl.
