| Jinrou and Hijikata each cut off one of Sakamoto's arms, defeating him in the process. Crazy ass Jinrou jumps on the plague rat, tackling him into the fire. After that, Jinrou is out for the count and is able to talk to Gin's spirit and Hijikata finally acknowledges Jinrou. Not too bad of an ending especially since it got axed and the mangaka had to wrap everything up quickly given the amount of chapters he was allowed. He did leave it open ended, which seems to be typical for mangas that get axed so early on. Where it almost feels more like the beginning than an ending. I think he shouldn't have given the manga a historical setting. I don't feel it works well with his art style. That's probably a reason it didn't gain popularity even though overall, it wasn't a bad story. The characters were likeable enough, art was fine, and the plot was alright to the point where I think this manga could have turned out pretty good had the mangaka been given at least 60-100 chapters to flesh out the plot, both factions, characters, and the powers/abilities they have from the cursed swords so the manga can feel completed. I'd give it a 6/10. |
