It has 3 seasons in total, and it's more or less conclusive. The ending isn't exactly perfect in my eyes, but I wouldn't call it open either.

While I do agree that I like the first season best and the rest isn't quite as good, and the first season also offered a somewhat "ending-like" ending, it doesn't harm to watch the rest of the series, they are still good, at least imo, especially if you like the main duo.

From what I know, all 3 seasons covered the whole manga, it's a complete adaption.

As much as i love Nodame Cantabile, i only love the first season. Both the second and third installments are just there for the sake of continuation and the ending at season 3 left me nothing other than wasting a day of my life. Then again, the same can be said for the rest of season 2 and 3.

Pretty much. I got midway through the Paris Season before my interest in the MCs kicked the bucket. S1 was ok.

If you liked the first season a lot I recommend watching the rest. In the end it's about your enjoyment. I know the second and the third season aren't as good as the first but I still liked them. After finishing this anime I couldn't stop listening to classical music xD

God knows what you would've done if you had watched LoGH then.

Funny, usually an ending is the last thing people think about when going for slice of life comedies.

The reason 2nd and 3rd season isn't as good as the 1st is because it got butchered a lot from its manga adaptation in order to fit more material. If one were to read the manga (I know you don't intend to), the quality pretty much remains consistent throughout the whole series.

While season 1 ends quite nicely, by all means continue afterward if you enjoy it a lot. Later seasons develop the characters and story further, plus newer characters are also quite good.
