THIS IS AN ANIME ONLY DISCUSSION POST. DO NOT DISCUSS THE MANGA BEYOND THIS EPISODE.
----------------------------------------
Things moved quite fast in this first episode with little time given for introductions.

Many parts were rather confusing with new terminology being thrown around as if they were nothing, so hopefully they clear up soon in future episodes.

Well the named character death toll is already at 1, this seems promising.

The writer decided to not even introduce the main character beyond a name and throw him straight into the fantasy world, it doesnt completely work, but I can see what he was trying to do and it was curious to watch.

Loving the character designs and music, they are both excellent. The VO dub is good too for the most part.

Weak part is probably the plot and lack of focus, but I am enjoying it.

Also introduced to this fairy, something I usually dont care for, but even she was made interesting some how with the very little screen time she recieved.

And here I thought the first episode of gundam was fast paced. Also, Shot Weapon is the best character name ever.

That was probably the most confusing first episode I've ever watched in an anime. And I'm very used to Tomino's work. Let's hope things get better explained in the rest.

Feel the same way. This is LOLTOMINO at it's finest. No explanations, no motivations and introductions. Let's dive straight into it folks.

Sometimes I wonder how he manages to make such a properly paced story as Gundam 0079.

@Farabeuf Collaboration? Isn't it probable that the other makers, like some animators/ep.directors or designers tempered Tomino's inability to craft something out of his ideas & concepts and to tell a story? Or the production.
As soon as he was "successful" and seemed to have greater control, it always ended up messy.

Good points. I agree. I love him as a creator and world builder, but sometimes some of his shows are pure anarchy.

This episode really needed a bit more exposition. Say what you will about modern Isekai, they do a pretty job setting up where the hell you are, how you got there, and why.

A very Tomino first episode: thrust straight into the story with little to no explanation.

That opening theme slaps though, and the character designs are excellent.
Curiosity has been piqued.

These chaotic, dense opens that Tomino often employs never grow old. Exposition is cheap and superficial. Plus these 50 episode older anime have plenty of down time/ inactivity later on, so I have no problem with being in media res overwhelmed to start.

Killer OP, up there with Xabungle's.
