Red crumbling steps took the two brothers up a long winding path which perilously crept up the mountainside like a carefully climbing snake. What little railing stood between the two and a very long tumble and fall; had long since crumbled away to the overbearing sun; that even now scorched the path they thread on, making the older brother glad he weren't wearing sandals, but the water that was starting to build up in his jackboots did't seem to want him to stay happy, his own sweat building as they climbed the spinelike mountainside, at one of its peaks, just within sight further up, around the very top of its spike; the path finally ended, going into the mountain proper, the mountain they were heading to had a very sharp dome that seemed to have been split, giving it the likeness of horns.

He knew he could have gotten up there faster but after consulting with himself he had realized just how much power he had used since he left, almost just to prove a point he had suggested they climb the mountain stairs rather than zip up to the top as it were. The younger was far ahead of him, already reached the mountain spire proper he was making the last climb up the red mountain, at this rate he would rather use him as a gate, honor be damned, he felt parched and soaked, not a fun combination. Stopping to do the rare act of appreciating his brothers child-like temperament as he excitedly climbed the last few hundred meters he had left, even from here he could tell he was in better shape than he was, but right now he did't mind at all, sighing something like a draw of surrender, he took one last moment to look down the path they had come from, and further on, he wondered if he was being followed, especially after the earlier incidents, he had not seen anyone, but it was his nature to worry.

((Hey, why did't anyone tell me these started working again?))
/ ~

The two had managed to finally get to their target, they had reached the mountainside when the sun had just started to creep back up, and now the sun was once again threatening to vanish on the horizon, the dying sunlight gave visible forms as they shone through the cracks of the little encasement they found themselves in. At very top, between the horn formations, there was a small opening, there was even grass and dirt in the little sanctuary that seemed to have cracked open back in some ancient time. The two had entered through a man made portal of some old stone, the ruins of some old temple that might have stood here before anyone could remember, though it was clearly a separate spectacle, far younger than the second portal in the little crater, which might have given rise to whatever else might have been built here, so far away from even the most remote village, besides the mountain range, there were barely even trees, they had long since left the last forests behind as they had veered northward and away from both fire and earth and into the hinterlands that lay beyond and between.

"By a million gods.. Mei was right!"

The only thing that could have drawn people so far away from society, and to such a unsuitable building spot, was something that could't be explained. And before them, as Mei had predicted about a month hence; was looming before them like a dark beast, ready to devour. It was simple in design, round and deep, an impossible creation of some kind of material, darker than anything the brothers had seen in physical form, even onyx, or other black materials were grey in comparison, indeed at first the brothers had not even realized they had seen anything but a gaping black hole before they realized the solid nature of the portal like structure. It was round, formed into the mountain itself. It had little to no decoration or signs of any kind, it was a simple void like circle but the thing that was strange was its depth, it formed like an inward dome, sinking deeper and deeper into the mountain, but due to voidlike nature of the stone or whatever it was built from, it was difficult to discern that it had any depth at all. When they stared at it for too long they started feeling unwell, their senses screaming at protest from the sensation this ancient artifact was giving off.

Y: What is it?
O: Its supposed to be a door..
Y: The world strangest door?
O: Or the creepiest.

The older brother had a concerned expression as he approached the gaping void, he had his instructions on what to attempt and do for pretty much any circumstance, the conversations and planning for this trip had been more exhausting than the trip itself, but yet he felt small and insecure as he got closer to the thing which he had been explained was second nature to him, and should not be feared, yet he could not help but shake a little as he started to stretch his right arm into the portals depths. His hand carefully felt the black surface beneath his fingertips as he slowly searched for the very center, it might have seemed easy, but the nature of the portal confused his senses and made his target a little different from where he thought he was aiming. The younger brother was scared too, the thing reminded them both of the kind of nightmares they had endured as children, another curse of their blood made new and manifest in this nightmare made real, the older brothers search quickly got frantic.

Y: I am not sure about this..

The comment made the older brother grant a short glance back, despite his bodies warnings that something might grab him from the void if he was to take his eyes off it. He returned his youngers nervous expression with his own, the obvious statement of "You better have my back" written clearly on his face. Just as his neck twisted his eyes back to the portal, his hand accidentally found its mark; a small hole, made invisible by the structure, allowed his hand entry, and with the last of his courage he pushed the rest of his arm through the opening until his arm up to his shoulder was covered in mountain, to the younger it looked like his older twin had partly disappeared into the void.

Y: What now?..
O: Hold on, I am trying to funnel.
Y: Its easy, just-
O: Its this thing, its making it difficult to concentrate, just wait ill-Shwuuuuuuuuuuup!

Like squeezed spaghetti, his brother fell into the arm sized hole with his entirety like it was nothing at all, his body's demilitarization was so strange to behold his brother was left gaping, it was similar to their own methods but the disturbing things truly lay in the in the stone cold details.

Brother..! Are you alright!?

For a moment of eternity he stood still watching the now empty void, listening for his brothers call for him to follow, but there was none, his mind sought him out but could find no trace of him, even the connection they used to portal through one another had been severed, something he had NEVER experienced before. After a while, he realized that his brother might never return, he wondered if he should turn around, but he also knew that he could't leave, he would't let himself live with backing out now. Taking a deep breath, he got close to the portal and sought out the opening, he found it surprisingly fast, preferring not to stall like his older brother he took the plunge as quickly as his fingers realized that they would never touch the bottom, his arm stretched to its fullest, he realized what had made his brother activate his powers, he too felt like trying to probe further down, but the moment he did, like his brother, the connection between the void and his own powers connected like a socket and its plug; he quickly lost all sense of form, space and time as his body was crushed into a state of floating atoms.

Shwuuuuuuuuuuup!

*gasp*

I suggest you seal your mind brother, this place will hold secrets our souls might not tolerate.

The space was without description, for no such thing could fall to mind. The space that held them, was space within space, a box within a box, a world inside a pinhole. They felt no need to breath, nor could they hear their own hearts beat, along with any other sound, the place was deaf to sound, even their movements and voice gave no music. Yet even though this was very confusing, their eyes kept a constant watch over the valley that lay before them, small but still impossibly large, atleast compared to what they were expecting; two rivers ran through the valley, criss-crossing once before meeting up again at the bottom of the valley, dumping water into a waterfall that seemed to drop into void. The place was surrounded by steep cliffs that went into sheer cliff-faces, seemingly walling in the valley, beyond there was just a black void.

Y:How could a valley exist within a mountain-top!?
O: It is even crazier than Meika made it out to be, this place seems to have killed all my senses, I can barely make out if I am standing upright or upside down.
Y: I think i'd panic if I did't have telepathy right now..
O: Urgh.. Something makes me feel like I am gonna have a headache today.

The place they had arrived in was at the very top of the valley, an open air, marble padoga with a view over the entire valley. From here they could see a single road snaking its way from them and further down the valley to the place where the rivers first cross, a bridge made passage easy and the road lead onwards between the two rivers until they arrived at the very bottom, two large statues with faces that had a start similarty to themselves guarded the final meeting of the river, their onyx eyes watched eternally over the coursing waterfall. As they took in the landscape, a strange feeling of nostalgia was starting to grow within them, and with their strength seemed to return.

Y: So what now?
O: ...I was expecting something else.
Y: Like a tomb?
O: I think it still is..
Y: This doesn't look like a grave..
O: Brother, tell me this; have you ever heard of something like a Kuromachi Graveyard?

The youngers expression was gripped with realization, the same that had dawned on the older shortly before the younger had joined him; Kuromachi had no use for tombs, not the conventional one anyway, upon death, all Kuromachi that held the bloodline would simply collapse onto themselves like one would do if you pushed your ability beyond all limits, their body and whatever remained damned to eternal mystery.

This place is a tomb, not just any tomb, it is ours.
It might not hold scrolls of a past life or treasure, but there is sure to be something else in here, something that only we can find! Such was his words, and they have taken us this far..

After finishing his little speech, the older brother turned to smile, taking a few steps into the little world.

Come on brother, let us explore the tomb of our lives!
