Just think about how Makoto has the most ripped back which makes total sense given that he’s the one who swims backstroke. If Kyoto Animation makes a girl version, then all the girls would wear pro swimming gear too and that is not your typical bikini that girls wear on the beach but something that would cover their whole upper bodies and flatten their chests. Not to mention that a female pro swimmer has quite muscular arms and back as well so she doesn’t have a slender figure with big, bouncy boobs. A male character is perfect for a swimming anime aimed at a female audience because his physique is a real eye candy and he’s shirtless in every episode.
