Hi all

So I'm currently halfway through the first season of Durarara and having very mixed feelings about it. On the one hand it's a very twised but beautiful lovestory about deeply troubled and in some cases rather psychotic indiduals which I love! On the other hand a lot of the fun for me is ruined because for some reason I don't even want to think about cause it would only depress me the writers decided to focus the bulk of the story on the only three characters that are so boring I dare say watching paint dry would be more intersting. And it's a crying shame cause the whos is filled with wonderful characters and I wanna watch them not the really sterotypical "leads" I watch Durarara for that psychopath who says he loves humanity but pushes teenage girls to commit suicide. I watch Durarara for that strangely loveable bartender with a penchant for insane violence. I watch Durarara to see a bunch of geeks torture someone in a way only anime could think up. I watch Durarara for that woman who is so in love with her brother she's willing to commit atrocity upon atorcitiy to protect him. I watch Durarara fo that headless urban legend who's harboring feelings for the guy that cut her up the moment she set foot on Japanese soil. I watch Durarara for them! Not to see if timid sempai #247 will get it on with stereotypical exchange student #456 or with genki teenager who's deep down really depressed #758. I can watch a doze other anime for that and that shit don't interest me in general since I'm not a teenager and only have negative high school experiences.

However besides anime I'm also an avid rader of manga. So my question is: does the manga also place so much emphasis on those three or is it more evenly divided there like it was in the Baccano! anime?

Please let me know. I really like Durarara's story and most of it's characters. But those stupid teenagers are fast ruining it for me.

Love story? You're Durarara!!ing wrong. Also, it's an adaption of a Light Novel, not of a manga.

For your info Durarara is LN originally not manga.
Kickstarter for Rokujouma is fully funded. Good work everyone. Lets wait for the result of our hard work together.

Go for Baccano, DRRR is more like a teen version of Baccano. Ops, I see you already watched that. So, deal with it pal.

Wow I was going to post apologies for posting in what I presume to be the wrong forum but I see that won't be necessary anymore. You guys are quick!

Anyway I know that Durarara is originally a light novel series but I don't read light novels. (I have enough actuall novels to read first) And there is also a manga adaptation so I was inquiring about that.

And yeah I got that DRRR is the shonen version of Baccano! but I've seen shonen shows that did live up to it's potential like FMA: Botherhood for instance or Attack on Titan. Does anyone know why they decided to go the shonen route for this one? I know the light novels are shonen as well but so are the Baccano! light novels and the Baccano! anime is decidedly seinen. And everyone that worked on Baccano! came back for Durarara. So why the change in target demographic?

Anyway if the fun begins in season 2 that's worth sitting season 1 out for me.
