I know MyAnimeList is infatuated with shows like Fullmetal Alchemist, Clannad, and Fate/Zero, but can any of those shows hold a candle to the absolute unfiltered perfection that is Hi☆sCoool! SeHa Girls? I think not.

From the second I saw Sega Saturn-san appear onscreen, I knew I was watching something special. What other show would dare to showcase such a realistic, focused view of the video game industry? Not Fullmetal Alchemist, that much is for sure. If it had stopped there, centering solely on the existence of perhaps one of the most influential consoles of all time, it would have been a 10/10 easily. But Hi☆sCoool! SeHa Girls is not one to settle for good enough.

The show's expert introduction of Dreamcast-san is perhaps the most natural dialogue I have ever heard in media. I felt as if I was in Sega Saturn-san's shoes, entering into a friendship that would endure for a lifetime. Notice also, the clever parallels between the character's introduction and the introduction of the Dreamcast, in the year of our Lord 2000 AD to the console market the Saturn, released 1995 had already been inhabiting. Could knowledge of real world history provide hints towards the show's future plot points? Only time will tell, but I'd advise cracking open your textbooks, Hi☆sCoool! SeHa Girls fans.

I must admit, I have been labouring the point. Even the perfect introduction that Hi☆sCoool! SeHa Girls has would be squandered if the show did not continue to shine. But shine it does, by introducing and contrasting the two original characters with the third Sega Hard Girl, Mega Drive-san. Unlike the simple, easy-going Saturn or the regrettably financially lacking Dreamcast, (a nod at the poor retail performance of the console,) Mega Drive-san is cool, smart and fantastically wealthy. She gives off a classical air, as if the frivolities of modern existence are beneath her. Yet, she proves to have a heart beneath her dark plastic exterior by befriending the two other Sega Hard Girls. The message is clear: we, like Mega Drive-san, must put aside our differences for the sake of the greater good, whether it be for arcade credits or world peace.

No other anime integrates class struggle and the worries of adapting to the challenges of everyday life like this. Hi☆sCoool! SeHa Girls is a gem, a shining diamond in the rough of a season plagued by Twintails and modern magic. I can only hope that its beautiful storytelling is not overlooked too much in favour of the things anime studios knows are "safe" and "unobjectionable." I implore you, readers: tell your friends, tell your enemies, tell anyone you know to give Hi☆sCoool! SeHa Girls the chance it deserves. With a little support, this show can provoke the revolution it intends to start.

It's alright but it suffers from it's themes, this anime is designed for those who grew up with Sega systems, the average Japanese Otaku who grew up from 1988-1998 had a PCE or SFC as the Mega Drive wasn't popular there, for the 32 bit era it's different as the Saturn was the 2nd most popular console in Japan and the Dreamcast was not only popular but had games well after it died elsewhere (I remember holding onto mine for imports until about the time the PS3 came out). This is unintentionally an anime made more for Westerners as far more Westerners grew up having Sega Systems (even though there will be references to games and variants of systems not released in the West like the Mega Boombox). It's also the reason for it projecting to sell 1k.

I remember those games and characters as I played them with my brothers long time ago so I enjoyed it.
I love the comedy as well, as I laughed quite a lot.
The characters is likeable and they able to support each other's trait well.
So yeah this show doesn't deserve its currently horrible rating, imo.

Unfortunately a large number of users on MAL wouldn't even know what a Saturn or Megadrive is, so a bunch of the humour is lost of them. The people old enough to know what this stuff is probably won't give it a chance because it looks like a cute girls doing cute things show with bad CG. It's unfortunately, because this show is legitimately hilarious. By far the most underrated show in a long time or maybe even ever.

I like this anime a lot due to the all the SEGA in it. I love all of the characters, especially Sega Saturn, but I kind of think she looks like really similar to Hatsune Miku.

If you grew up playing Sega games, this show is great. All the references and inside jokes are very funny. That said, I still think the show is funny even for non-Sega fans. There's even some clever stuff about the anime industry and Japanese society in general.
