Rewatching this for the first time in years. It's aged badly compared to Macross which was made by the same team, but Sho Hayami is a delight as Kei. You gotta love Casey Rankin's OP and ED too. And when the heck do you see nowadays an anime starting up with an honest to goodness lovemaking scene?

Dayumn, that was something else. I found the "alien" designs absolutely hilarious. The only thing that separates them from humans are those weird tentacles.

You know the fact that Kei's personality makes any love triangle bullshit impossible already makes me feel like this is better than Macross.

That Gypsy song was really neat never heard anything like that in a anime before.

A playboy soldier screw up and slides into another world, surrounded by tentacle women ? Too bad for him, he's treated as a merchandise.
I wasn't expecting to get a proper rendition of Mikimoto's art as soon as the first episode, let's hope it stays this way (unlike its predecessor).

Bonus points for the sound department: the opening/ending and Kei's voice are pretty good.

4/5

Story-wise, I guess? Because this was visually far better than an average Macross episode.

@FMmatron Don't be like that, it has good and bad points. Theyhad some interesting ideas and certain conflicts made for a change after several Gundam.

Wow I was actually relatively impressed by this, hopefully the pilot ep isn't the peak of the series. The op and ed choices were really interesting and seem pretty memorable right off the bat. The color palette used for the aliens (for lack of a better term) really stood out to me too. Looking forward to the next ep's

Lol, I don't have high hopes that this will be great, but I might enjoy it ironically.

At least I dig the premise, the protagonist doesn't seem boring either. Character designs are nice and it's rather well animated too. And interesting way to portay mourning people after a battle xD

Wow this was actually quite great¿ First time I've ever seen a regular anime opening up with a sex scene. Kei seems super interesting as a protagonist and the premise is nice. Let's hope it stays like this.

Before Gundam 00 and Recongusita in G, this was the space elevator mecha anime. Impressive hand-drawn animation. It's like an intermediary between SDFM and DYRL. Cool, it also uses the GERWALK terminology from Macross.

Playboy protagonist Kei is a fish out of the water as he wounds up into the far-flung future where his mecha is considered antique and there are these beings with tentacles coming out of their hair. Fascinating that their hover-ship thing is in the design of a big house with red roofing.

Novels I have read/am reading pending approval: since November 10 2022
